Poll: Tacky to WTF

Not that I'm Martha Stewart or Emily Poste but I just saw on another board this girl (obviously young) talking about making a wedding drink based on everclear. Basically legal moonshine in a cup. Whereas I have fond memories of it from college I'm not sure it's a wedding drink. (although that will end up being some reception!) Which got me thinking what wedding plans have you heard of that you thought were tacky, horrendous or just made you scratch your head.

OMG! No offense to anyone..but I HATE balloons at a wedding..its make me almost sick to my stomach when I walk in and see them everywhere! I get confused and ask myself "am I at a wedding reception, a birthday party or retirement dinner?"

Everclear??? No ma'am! The plan for an extrememly plus sized bride to wear a full ballgown w/ pickups wedding dress in scarlet red.  I tried to explain how that won't have a slimming effect at all but she didn't care.  The pictures weren't flattering and her boobs were HANGING all outta there.  It wasn't the best choice in my opinion.  She's happily married though so I guess all's well that end's well.

I am with brobin and I hope this does not offend anyone but... Balloons at a wedding always have me thinking like WTH?  And when the B&G have an arch of balloons behind them? OMG! That is so 1975. That's the only tacky thing I have seen at a wedding thus far.and OFF, who in the world would use everclear at a wedding reception? Were they serious?

oh wait, the boob comment made me think of an episode of Bridezilla I saw where the bride was getting married in Texas and nothing went right at her wedding. DJ played the wrong music, bridesmaid's boobs were hanging out of their dress and no one was trying to correct that problem. The dress the bride had on looked like she gave no real thought process to picking out her gown. That was one wedding that had me really like WTF. I forgot about that one.

EVERCLEAR! I know I couldn't believe it. She was posting about needing another drink to toast with since everclear was too strong. You think? But everclear is clearly her siggy drink. I mean I had a flashback to every frat party I went to. I can only hope they are having this at her parents house or at a hotel because you dont want these people on the road.

Moonshine, for realz? this is gonna go over real well. I agree with MrClinton with the arch of balloons. I'm just all sorts of confused about that one. I'd also like to add every episode of Redneck Wedding on that one. I can't even begin to explain those folks. Ya'll just need to watch the show.

Not to offend anyone 1) USING TULLE (that uglya$$ white knitting stuff) on the arch above the podium and on the pews at the ceremony...UGGGGH, can't stand to see it.2) FAKE FLOWERS, I'm not talking about the real touch faux flowers...NO NO NO, I'm talking about the ones you see in the Dollar Store...yep those...now imagine an entire wedding done using those...OMG, I just shuddered thinking about them...LOL!  :)

i'm almost scared to say this for fear of offending anyone but these are just personal opinions right?! i think full, cluttered up table settings are tacky. like when there are 2 different colors on the table, along with a big CP, plus a full table setting with a menu card, favors, etc... just not cute IMO! where r people gonna put their hands or clutch purse or camera, or whatever? makes the table look messy. i'm with u girls on the balloons. too b/day party-esque. i like tulle done tastefully. i saw a pic of church pews with tulle. no prob except the tulle wasn't in any 'order'. most people attach it to every so many pews. this one was attached to 1 then skip 3...attach, then skip 4...attach, then skip 2! just crazy lookin! them 'look like the bride' cakes ain't too pretty either, IMHO.

I'm so glad you all brought up the balloons thing.  I thought that I was the only one that felt that way.  I went to a wedding show recently and there was a booth with folks advertising for setting up balloons at the wedding.  I was so upset with them.  I can't think of anything else right now.  My FI had some really tacky ideas, but I can't think of any...oh!  wait!  I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but his dad wanted to have a pig pickin' at our wedding...it's not that it's tacky, I just had to scratch my head because it's not the style of wedding I want.  Also, my FI wanted his friend to be our photographer because he just bought a brand new camera and it was really nice and expensive...says the FI.  Meanwhile, he's never taken a photography class or anything, and he wanted this guy to capture our wedding day.

Nope! LOL!!! I don't know what it is either! (Pig Pickin) I am so with you on the ballons things. I also hate the big puffy dresses, with Gody Necklaces, earrings, a Bracelet, and a Tiara! UUUGGHHH!!! Can't stand it!

A Pig Pickin' is a party or event involving the barbecuing of a whole hog.  It is typically a southern tradition.  I am originally from Florida, and we do not partake in that tradition, however, I moved to North Carolina a few years ago and it is pretty popular here.  Before moving here I had not heard of it either.

OH Oh Oh Oh ! I got obe! I mean I was like how tacky is this. Serving Jello shots at the reception. The family just made them about them out like appetizers. Also, I hate then the people are ghetto enough to change their clothes between the ceremony and reception! Girl people had on their sweat clothes to eat! Girl, I couldn't even eat because it was so tacky. Not a fan of arches, fake flowers, pure white ( that is the golden child in me), the cake looking like the bride ( that is just creepy).

BigShow, I'm with you on all of the extra jewelry.  You don't need all of that.  I'm not huge on wearing a tiara either but that is probaby attributed to some other reasons.  I do like hair combs or rhinestone headbands though. They're nice. I am not a huge fan of tulle so we're using chiffon as an alternative. I've never seen balloons at a wedding, thank God. My other thing that I won't have is that 11 light candleabra fan arch thingie.  Something about that looks so "welcome to the 80's" to me.

I have to agree with the comment about too much crap on the tables!! I went to a wedding reception once where there was so much "junk" on the table (favors, cameras, etc.) that there was barely enough room to put my hands. I also can't stand tall, or full, flower arrangements in the center of tables. IT makes it heard to see the person sitting across from you! Wedding cakes that have many plastic stands, fountains, etc., scream 1970s to me! Unfortunately, some people still use these.
