Question for Married Ladies/Marraige License

I thought I remembered that when going through the name chang process, a few places require a copy of your marraige license (???) ...so my question is how many copies of your marriage license do you need to buy?

They require a copy of your marriage certificate (basically a copy of your signed license after it's been approved, and printed on special paper). You can get away with 1 copy. I got 2 so I could have one to take to all the places that needed to see it, or copy of it, and I had one to mail away with my new passport applications (not needed, you can get away with a copy there, too, but I sent the real one just in case because I needed it fast). I have lots of name change info in my bio, if you're interested. I wish I had started gathering all the name change forms before I got married. Would have made the process much quicker.

I got 4, but that's only cause they were cheap(8 bucks each) and we figured it was better to buy too many than spend 15 bucks driving back!I only needed one.  I sent a real one in with my passport because you couldn't see the notary stamp on the copy, and I don't have my new passport yet so I don't know if they send it back to me.  I only needed to show it to the SSA and DMV, so two copies probably would have been fine. All the other places didn't even ask to see it(CC, utilites etc...)

Just 1. Most places will accept a copy of the certificate.

this is a sore topic for me. we were told by numerous people that we should get several copies because some places would require originals. we got 3 copies, spent $50, and i havent had to hand over my original yet, and the only thing i have left to change is my passport :(

Yes, one is all you really need.  The DMV and Social Security require the originals, but they just look at them and take a copy anyway.  The lady at the desk at Town Hall said to just get one and keep it in a safe place.

We got 2. No one has needed the real thing (and many places haven't needed a copy). Except passport- we had to mail them an original certificate, but they sent it back in a couple weeks.
