i changed AND kept my full name.  i don't care what anyone thinks, but i was going to keep my name, and then thought about family and how i want us to have one name, and wanted to share that with DH, but i was unwilling to part with the name my parents gave me.  i kept both, legally, at court, $200 if anyone is interested lol.... so i'm now allison carrie maidenlast marriedlast, no hypends, two middle names, and i am very happy about it. DH really wanted me to take his name, but he'd never in a million years force me.  if i didn't change my name legally, i would have just kept my maiden, at least for now, mostly for work reasons and being in my industry.

i'll also add my circle of friends, every one of them changed their names to their husbands.  even those who were "totally not going to" because of whatever reason and then did, just like me i suppose (although i think i hit a nice compromise).  i think you hear a lot from the not-changing name ladies who think they need to stick up for the decision they made.  who cares?  to OP: you shouldn't care either; just go with what makes you happy.  no one with half a brain would buy the "your husband owns you" BS.
