We are using a vintage manual typewriter from the 1960s.  I scanned in the artwork from one of our favorite books, enlarged it, and printed it onto 8.5x11" linen paper.  We added page numbers to each, and included some blank pages as well.  We will place 2 boxes next to the typewriter.  One with the "blanks" and one with the finished pages.  After the wedding we will have them bound into a book.  :)

[QUOTE] We're getting married at a museum and will be using a book about the history and architecture of the museum as our guestbook. It doubles up as a great book to own and a special keepsake! Maybe you can find a suitable book about something you both enjoy?

Oh, I like this.  I like this a lot.  (Our venue is also a museum.)
  • These are great ideas!  I'm currently planning to make a photo book like some of the others already mentioned.  My other idea...I am trying to compile a cookbook of recipes from friends and family to give out as favors at the wedding (I sent a request with the save the dates and have had a decent response so far) so if this really happens, I guess I could use a copy of the cookbook as a guestbook as well.  I was also considering the platter idea...I sometimes paint ceramics at a local place and they have those pens.  Too many ideas!  Haven't quite decided yet.  Good thing the big day's not until october!

[QUOTE]Our theme is puzzles, since we fit together perfectly, so we're buying a large blank puzzle that has 4 inch square pieces and having our guests sign those with colorful sharpies.  Then, after the wedding, we are going to put the puzzle together and frame it.

I love this idea!! Where were you able to find blank puzzles big enough, with enough pieces?

  • How about have them sign a paddle?  They even make small sized paddles about 4' long (I guess for kids).  You could hang it as art.

use a coffee-table book that fits with the wedding's theme or couple's interests (wine, art, cooking, travel, love, religion).  we might do an Art book... but how do we choose? and it's not really personal.

i love the photobook idea (of dating progression photos)!

& the photobooth - we'll do it if we have an extra G sitting around ;)

  • We haven't completely decided yet, but we are debating just scrapping the whole guest book idea.  After you read it the first time I just wonder how many times we will actually read it again.  And we already have everyones addresses from our guest list we compiled.  If we do end up doing one though we were thinking about the photo book idea with pictures of us and have people sign that.
We are doing a photobooth though and have contemplated the scrapbook idea where people glue their pic in after and write a message, but we will have about 250 people at our wedding and i'm told the photo booth lines are always long so i really don't want to add another hold up to that.  I like someones idea of a chalkboard, I was actually just thinking yesterday about putting a dry erase board there that people can write messages on.  My plan now is to take our copies of the strips that we get from the wedding and put them into frames.  i've seen it in martha stewart weddings and loved the idea.  You get long frames and stagger the strips across them and hang them in the house.

  • My FI and I are both avid skiers. We actually fell in love on our skis (on our 5th date, he invited me up to the mountains for a day to learn how to ski - a freak snow storm closed the road and we ended up being stranded together for close to a week! sparks flew all around). As a part of his wedding gift, I'm saving to buy him a pair of antique wooden skis and leather boots from the 10th mountain division (around 1930s), and I'm going to have everyone of our guests sign or leave some sort of mark on the skis or boots.
I was actually reading through a magazine the other day and found another colorado couple who had done something similiar...good ideas must be shared i suppose!
  • I'm going to set out 3 vinyl records, and only have guests sign one side with a silver marker. Then I'll frame them for our home! Fits perfectly for our music themed wedding!
  • Hi!

I am not sure if anyone mentioned this but my fiance and I are going to do a quilt guestbook. Our wedding is this summer and the colours are light green and aqua. We are buying fabric in the colours of our wedding and each guest will sign a piece of fabric. My fiance's aunt is a quilt maker and she will sew it after the wedding and we will use it for a long time to come!

Also - I was just at a wedding that had a photobooth and it was awesome too! It got really crowded (large wedding) and some people became frustrated b/c they had to wait so consequently didn't get their picture taken. Just something to keep in mind!

  • I think we are going to use something from The Guest Book Store.

    http://www.guestbookstore.com/

They are sort of  a hybrid between mad libs, the photobook idea, etc.
  • We decided to do a picture book of our last 8 years together... then allow the guest to sign and write a small note on the pages.

We figured this way they could see some funny moments in our relationship and then write some advice or memory for us to read in the future!

It's a scrapbooking website. Registration is free with an email address, and for signing up you get over 1200 free prints (pay for shipping only) and a myriad personalized photo gifts---including 20-30 page 8x8 photo books you design yourself. You can put a couple photos on each page, and still have room for guests to sign! It's one (fairly cheap) option. I love all the other suggestions on here too, though!
