1 Photographer vs. 2 Photographers

Hello All! Im getting married in March and Im having trouble figuring out which photographer to go with. Certain things within the package are important while I couldnt care less about others. But my main dilemma is when it comes down to the number of photographers (ppl with cameras- not assistants)- are 2 photographers really better than 1?The wedding and reception will be small considering the guest list and the amount of space we have to work with bc we are getting married outdoors in a vineyard. I would hate to have 2 guys tripping over each other and our guests but at the same time I would hate to miss important shots. Please advise with opinions and experiences. Thank you so much!

I prefer 2 just because of the variety of angles they can get. But there are many photogs out there who work solo and do wonderful work. Look at complete coverage from the weddings that they've done, that will give you a good idea if they can handle it or not.. If these are people who work together all the time, they won't trip over each other or the guests. Good luck!

I would get 2. Even if they are taking pictures of the same thing, you are getting different angles, and in the unfortuante event that something goes wrong with one of the cameras/memory cards, you have another photographer that got the shots in some form.

We had two and I was really happy, they were able to get really good ceremony shots from many angles and we just got a lot more pictures than we might have with only one photographer
We're currently on a 15 month trip around the world!

they won't be tripping over each other; it's their job and they know how to do it.   they'd be taking different pictures, different angles, so they'd likely never even be near each other.  2 is better than 1 if you can swing it.  i had 2 plus a shooting assistant.

Usually for your ceremony you will have one center back and then the other photog around the sides.  And pp is right, they won't be tripping over each other, most of the time people use 2nd shooters that they work with regularly, they communicate very well.  Plus you will get that many more great images.  Most photographers have add ons for a 2nd shooter, so even if you like what included in their base package you can pay a small fee to include another photographer.  It's worth the money

Two is definitely better. You'll get different perspectives. Like when you're walking down the aisle you will get shots from your end and his.

two...always always always two. We had one at our wedding and I really regret it. It is honestly impossible to shoot a wedding alone and get everything, as in literally not missing a moment. It is too big of a day to miss anything and with one photographer you are guaranteed to miss something. If they tell you they won't, they are lying. Consider these things: any kind of malfunction - there is another person still taking shots, changing memory cards - another person still shooting, one out taking shots of the groom and groomsmen - the second is still with you and your girls getting candid moments. One is already in the ceremony location getting shots of you coming down the isle - the second is back with you and your dad getting candid moments before you walk down the isle and will also get a shot of the back of your dress going down the isle while the first gets your face....and the list goes on. -holly gauper
