  It was all the rage in the 16th century - Queen Elizabeth I's hairline was plucked, for example. It's not any weirder than shaving all our pubic hair off.

  yes it is. We don't pluck our pubes out one by one... Also, head hair plucking is too close to a sickness for me. (Trichotillomania)

  Well, they probably would have shaved it or waxed it, if there were disposable razors and waxers, but there weren't. Maybe some women shaved, but plucking lasted longer - like waxing.
