That's understandable I suppose.  You're totally missing out though.
  • I wish I could eat a caramel apple.  :( those are so good
  • Lumpia sounds good, now that I kind of have an idea what it is.

[QUOTE]I love fried dough covered in powdered sugar in any way shape or form! A day spent down the shore was never complete until we gorged on zeppolis.

    And salt and vinegar fries!

Missy, everyone says the Iowa State Fair is the best (and by everyone, I mean one morning radio show here).  What makes it so awesome/different from others?
  • Boneless Buffalo Wings from Applebees, Doritos, Wise Onion and Garlic chips, chocolate, Disco fries, taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwiches.

    Please. What DON"t I like.  I'm the unhealth-food queen.

  • FAVUCK YES CS. LUMPIA IS AMAZING.
  • Mmm, so good, Pirate!

And I forgot ZEPPOLIS!  Nathan said he loves Elephant Ears, which I have never heard of.

Rhon, your non-acquaintance with fair food is making me sad.
  • Did anyone answer what lumpia is? Because TK is fvcking with my brain.
  • mmmm deep fried fat on a stick.  I CAN"T WAIT FOR THE STATE FAIR.

Who's up for a greasy GTG in August?? We have a stand with unlimited Kemps milk too! Only $0.25 for the whole day!
  • Rhon- please tell me you've had Kettle Korn (sweet kettle-cooked popcorn).

H and I currently live about 3/4 mile away from the fair grounds... starting mid-August I can smell grease in my apartment.  It's heavenly.

My faves: deep fried cheese curds (although, I have to admit WI does them way better), mini donuts, caramel apples smothered in cinnamon ice cream, slushies. nom nom nom nom
  • Nates, Lumpia is kind of like eggrolls, but skinnier and longer. And soooo much better.
  • PIRATE AND NATES- I HAVE NO CLUE IF YOU WILL SEE THIS> TK SUCKS.

  • I love LMGTFY.

Also, I want some empanadas now.
  • As a MN State fair attendee, I miss Fair food dearly!  Luckily, Our Fair isn't all that far away. it's the second week of August.

My favorites:(the first 4 are my MUST haves

    *footlong corndog
    *fried cheese curds
    *funnelcake
    *Fresh squeezed lemonade
    *mini donuts with cinnamon sugar
    *gyros
    *cotton candy
    *indian tacos
    *Irish Nachos
    *chislic on a stick
*Dippin Dots in the banana split flavor

Seriously, I once considered (at 19) joining the circus just so i could nosh on tastiness all the time.  Then i realized that maybe it's only so good, because i get it only once or twice a year.

  • At 19 you probably had the metabolism for all that fair food.  :) It'd have worked out great! Think of the awesome stories you could tell us.
  • I had a deep fried Milky Way last year at the fair. I thought it was going to be disgusting but it was absolutely amazing. Also, the blooming onion I had was fabulous.
  • I LOVE blooming onions! H can't eat them because of the onion, so that means I get the whole thing for myself.
