I'll start, I am a program assistant at a medical non-profit. Mainly I do administrative stuff, and I also coordinate a Seminar we have 6 times a year. My organization assesses and creates education plans for Doctors who are in trouble for mal-practice. I also recently started doing small time catering on the side (don't strike me down Knot Admin. I don't do weddings!) For my grandma's friends dinner parties and FIs work events. I love to feed people :)what about all of you?

good question Jessi (I've been wondering the same thing!)  I am a licensed professional counselor & do emergency psychiatric evaluations for a non-profit agency in North Denver.  I see folks who are suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.  Its a fabulous job b/c I get to see lots of people who need help but I don't carry a caseload & have to see people on an "ongoing therapy sort of basis" :)  I like to think that I get to do the "quick & dirty" assessments & then hook my patients up with other providers to do the ongoing therapy/meds. I'm also finishing up my doctorate in clinical psychology (I seriously need to start working on my dissertation again after the wedding...that is all I have left until I'm finally done with school after being a student for 25 years!) LOLI'm looking forward to hearing about everyone else's lives outside of our wedding planning mode :)

i'm a geologist.  i've worked in one of the biggest gold mines in the world (best. job. ever.) and have one year left of my master's degree in economic mineralogy (basically finding gold/other ore).  i also teach geology classes at CSU.  i guess the why is because i've always had a fascination with rocks and minerals, and it is a really fun career path.  i love what i do! :)

I am a substitute Teacher for Boulder Valley School District. I was a First year SS teacher a year ago but my school downsized and first year teacher are the first ones to go :(  I have applied to CU Boulder for a grad program in Education school, so that way I can get a job again and I will still sub to get some extra money. Right now it just really hard because all the school districts are cutting back.

What a great post! I am a commercial real estate agent. I mainly do leasing and property management (lots of admin work) for companies/properties in Boulder County. I have been licensed for 3 years now and I love it, even though the economic sucks right now.

Well... I am still in school, nursing school. I graduated last December with a BA in Human Development and started an Accelerated Nursing Program in January. I graduate in December with my BSN and will take the state boards in January. While going to school, I work as a CNA on an OB unit. I absolutely LOVE my job and the people I work with and can't wait to work as an RN on the floor! Only 13 more weeks!

I'm finishing up my last year of pharmacy school in Omaha, NE.  It is a doctorate degree so it has taken me 6 years outside CO to finish!  I miss living in CO a lot, though Nebraska isn't really that bad.  Unfortunately, my FI and I are at the mercy of residency programs for him (he's a 4th year medical student---starting residency this summer), so we may or may not get to head back to CO this summer.I can't wait to be done with school forever!  Both my FI and I graduate in May.....5 months after we are married :)

Currently, I work as a vision therapist/optometrist technician in Laramie, WY two days a week and a dental assistant in Denver for my sister's pediatric dental practice 4 days a week. The travel is semi-exhausting! It is worth it though because I'm in the process of applying to optometry schools for fall 2010. Fingers crossed on getting acepted this year!

I just started my grad program in Occupational Therapy and hope to eventually work in rehabilitation of brain injury patients or clients with neurodegenerative disorders. Or I might just keep going to school and be a professional student. We'll see. ;)

Good question joforeman :)  I'm a private events coordinator downtown, but I really don't like it at all!  I went to school for journalism and film production.  I would love to be an editor for the tv station Altitude but haven't been successful yet.  I'm guessing I won't be doing that though, because once we have kids in the next year or two, I really just want to be a stay at home mom.I'm hoping that once we have kids and they go to school, I can start a little photography business but we'll see.

Great poll! I am an interior design consultant for a window treatment company and basically travel around the state helping people cover their windows! It's great to be able to see beautiful homes and not work in an office but definitely not my dream job. Hoping to go back to school in the near future and get an accelerated BSN (already have a BA in English/Anthro).

I currently work in customer service at a pathology lab.  I've been here for 10 years even though I have a degree in Sports Industry.  Ah well, one day I will break out back into sports.  But for now I like my job.  I have plenty of vacation time to take 3 weeks off for the wedding!  :)

I'm glad you all like the poll I love to learn about all the interesting jobs out there :) I should add that I am hoping to go to grad school soon to become a registered dietitian, so add me to the list of girls in medical/health careers! I'm the Office Manager at a non-profit in Boulder. My company provides emergency assistance (food, housing, financial aid) to those in need. I wish I got to see more of the people we help...I'm basically the HR paper pusher! I went to college for photography and have had to put my photography business on hold (for financial reasons) and am hoping to pick it back up again after the wedding!

Great question! We have smart and talented group of women on this board. I currently work as Program Coordinator/Conference Planner for a major university. I have a bachelors degree in English literature from CSU (go Rams!) and am currently studying for my MSLA (Master of Science in Legal Administration) which is a really long name for an MBA for the legal field. I am actually really excited to change careers. Planning programs and events can lose its charm after awhile. :) Great to get to see what you all do, besides planning a wedding.

man, we sure have a lot of intelligent & creative girls on this board!!  I love how we have lots of artistic types & the organizers/office managers who keep everything rolling. Those skills will come in helpful during the wedding planning process for sure!!  And we've got a big bunch in the helping professionals (I'm jealous of all you nurses! :)  This has become by far my favorite thread to keep coming back & read so I can learn more about everyone!  Keep em coming! :)

This is so fun! Such a diverse and interesting group. I am a Marketing Manager for a non-profit, member-based association in Stapleton. The work is fun and challenging for the most part, but there are days when I could rip my hair out for sure.

Right now my full-time job is being a mom (I tell ya, this week I've been thinking about the lack of vacation time!!) I used to be a cook/administrator/server (not all at once) at a restaurant. I love that I experienced the food industry, it worked great with my school schedule, but I'm also glad I'm done with it! After the girls are in school, the plan is to move out east and get my masters in political management, in the hopes of being a campaign manager or political advisor one day. Right now I'm attempting to create my own business, just to make some extra $$ for the next few years.

I haven't really met many of you but I'm starting to be addicted to the knot so I'll answer, too. ;) I work in a real estate office specializing in foreclosures and go to school. I was just accepted in a full time nursing program and will have by BSN in December of 2013.
