Is $400 alot to pay a JP for:
1 meeting
1 rehearsal
1 ceremony?

I am not sure what is average ... Thanks!

    Our JP cost, I *believe* , around $180 for the ceremony.  We got to meet face to face once for no charge (and had unlimited consultation via phone/email).  He charged the same for a Rehearsal as he did for the wedding.  Also, keep in mind this was his pricing for a Boston wedding.

    I dont think 400 is awful. We are paying $350 (because he has to travel a little out of his area) and that doesn't include a rehearsal! So we are not having him at the rehearsal...

    Is the meeting you are referring to "the first meeting" or just an interrum meeting for detailed planning? If its just the initial meeting, then I think its a little high. But if its a planning meeting (which can be done over phone/email instead) then i guess it makes sense. Our JP is charging us $150 for rehearsal and $150 for ceremony, so $300 total, and unlimited phone/email conversations.

    yeah, $400 was too much for us (we met with one that charged that rate, but he charged extra to personalize the service, which our JP is not charging for).

    Ours is $150 for the ceremony (set by the state I believe, but they can charge extra to write your ceremony) and $75 for a rehearsal (we're not doing this).  Some also charge for travel.

    Our JP said that $150 is the max rate for ceremony, which is state law, but they can charge for consultations and rehearsals.  They cannot, however, charge for travel, so Star, you may wanna check that out! Its on the Mass JP website!
