Another announcement question

How were you/will you be announced into the reception? 1. Mr. and Mrs. John Smith2. John and Jane Smith3. Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith (is that improper?? Doesnt look right)

4. Jane and John Smith I know that I used it on invitations, etc., but there's something about 1 that irks me. I'm finally getting comfortable with giving up my last name - I really don't want to give up my first name either.

While I wouldn't use it on an invitation, we were announced as option #3. I just liked the sound of it all together.

I don't know -- I'm a traditionalist, so we'll probably go with #1. But I've definitely been to weddings that have done #3 and I thought it sounded fine.

#3 is improper. If you want to include both first names, it should read: Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane SmithWere were anounced as: "Let's welcome the newlyweds, James XYZ & Sarah ABC!" (I didn't change my last name)At the ceremony, the preacher said, "And now I present to you, for the first time as husband and wife, James XYZ & Sarah ABC."If I had changed my name, I probably would have gone w/ #1. It's the more formal of the first 2 & weddings are usually formal occasions.

We will probably do #2. even though #1 is more formal, I never liked the idea of being referred to as Mrs. his first and last name. My name is Alyson, plus it always made me feel like the woman was not as important as the man (I know that sounds kind of silly.) So saying both our names will be the way we go.
