TopBridalDresses.com/ Buying Dress Online

Hi Ladies! So I took your advice and went to Park Ave Bridal today (very helpful staff and great selection, as promised), and fell in love with a Maggie Sottero dress. I did not buy it yet because I want to check out at least one more store before I take the plunge. However, I googled the dress and found that a website, TopBridalDresses.com has it for about $500 cheaper than Park Ave, and another site, DressTimes.com, has it for about $650 less! Plus Park Ave is charging $225 for alterations, when all I need is a hem! Has anyone ever bought from or heard anything about these sites before? Has anyone bought their gown online? How was it?

I always get leary of these sites. The only one I know of someone ordering off of was netbride.com. I am a maggie bride too...which dress?

Looks like topbridaldresses.com remakes the dress so it won't be the dress you tried on today. I'm trying to find the same comment on the other site. It probably is another site that makes remakes. Unless you're buying the dress "gently used" from another bride it doesn't make sense for the price to be that different. Maggie Sottero gowns are generally reasonable. If you don't like the price for alterations worst you can do is purchase it and have it taken care of by your own personal seamstress, but I would check prices. Also, I'm sure you'll need a bustle too. I wonder if Park Ave. included that with your alterations.

I would e-mail Maggie Sottero directly to see if any of these stores are licensed to carry their dresses. Also are you POSITIVE that you are the exact number size dress? Just about everyone need alterations on a wedding gown aside from the hem to make it fit just right. My bridal salon is charging 300 so I don't think 225 is too bad. Congrats on finding a dress you love!

We believe the simple is the fashion and classic. Every the item in DT is simple, fashion and classic. We try our best to make every item more simpler, perfect and easier. All the items will be produced after you place the order. And we will improve dress, which will be more simply and easier than the original ones. This text is from DressTimes.com. I almost bought a dress (a discontinued one) from a site like this. Don't let the price tempt you. You get what you paid for.

Thank you so much for the info ladies!! This really put it into perspective! Jamie- I should have done more research... If I had read what you just posted about these sites, I would have not looked twice! hahaha Definitely not worth it for me. The wording was pretty funny also, btw!! Diane-- I guess you're right, $225 isn't too bad for the hem and yes, the bustle also. I didnt really know what the average was for alterations.

I don't know how much they were saying the dress costs, but I'm a Maggie bride as well - got my dress from Hollywood Bridal in Kenilworth and the alterations are included. I think bustle is 75.

I am not sure where you are located, but Chrissy O's in Newton carries Maggie and they had a special (earlier in the year) where they offered $100 off any maggie dress and a free headpiece. I didnt end up getting my dress there so I am not sure about their alteration pricing. I know Hollywood Bridal in Union carries Maggie too and they have good prices, a little high in some cases because alterations are included. Jamie, you are a good detective. I always wondered how they could offer the dresses so cheap. Now I know!

Check these: www.bestbridalprices.com www.houseofbrides.com They offer the real dresses for 20-40 percent off. I ordered a BM dress from HOB a while back and it was cheaper than what the rest of the BMs paid and it came in record time. Don't know if they carry Maggie, but it's worth checking.

Check Pearls Place, Netbride.com, RK Bridal....all legitimate retailers.  My bridesmaids got their dresses from netbride.

Thank you!! I will def. stay far, far away from these sites! But I will look into the ohter ones suggested. My issue wasn't that I thought the dress at Park Ave. was overpriced by any means, its just that I thought I could get the exact same dress somewhere else for much cheaper, and who doesn't want that? But definitely not worth sacrificing the quality!

You've got to do your research...at least read the FAQs and google for reviews. That said, the others pps mentioned--bestbridalprices, Jay's bridal, RK Bridal, Pearl's Place, House of Brides, etc. are legit sites selling real (not replica) dresses. Their prices are cheaper, but not the crazy-deal-of-a-lifetime prices you'll find on the replica sites. If it's too good to be true--it probably is!

Jumping in to rave about BestBridalPrices.com. Got all my BM's dresses there and they're 100% real and perfect, and at about $70 cheaper than in a shop. Not an insane discount, but they throw in free shipping and the quality is perfect. Highly reco!

I got my dress from Pearls Place.  I would highly recommend them.  The dress is gorgeous and is the same as the one I tried on in the store.
