POLL: ghettoredneck c’untry side of YOU

I’m a tad bit post happy today :/. I was up until 1 this morning doing work for the man so now I deserve a little break. The ghettoredneck c’untry side of me: I sauté my corn flakes in butter. I don’t do it often (or I’d have a heart attack) but every once in while I get a craving for it. I started doing it to use as the crumb for my baked mac and cheese but now I eat it on its own. I sometimes boil milk (esp. carnation milk from the can) just so that I can eat the film that forms on top of the boiled liquid. I’ll sometimes take powdered milk, gerber’s baby cereal, and sugar and mix them together like you do to make a baby’s milk bottle. However, I just eat it like that. What are some ghettoredneck things that you do that people (who see you and think how sophisticated you are) wouldn’t believe that you do?

u play too much girl! waaay too much time on your hands! LOL! Girl, I'm from Houma, Louisiana so i AM ghettoredneck c'untry (i said that with attitude!) No one says anything cuz that's just how we roll! Now with that said... Blue, i've eaten 'pablum' before and enjoyed it! (your baby cereal concoction - we used to call that pablum) i like to eat eagle brand condensed milk right out the can. if i just wanna take a taste of oj to take my vitamin after breakfast, sometimes i'll swig it straight out the jug (when's the last time u heard that word???) i'd kill Don or P if they did it though. if i'm outta gas when P is gone, i'll stop and put $5 or just enough to make it till he's back in town. i'll be back with more later. it's hard cuz i'm just c'untry, so for me all that lil stuff u city folks would frown at is just normal! lol!

You guys getting me through this afternoon! I like to take wheat bread and poor syrup on it, I call it the lazy man's pancake. I make mine on pepper vinegar so I'm always ready for collards. not necessarily redneck but....I like to eat my cereal with water. And from way back when I was a kid (up until I was 7) I refused to enter a car any other way than through the passenger window as my special tribute to Dukes of Hazzards.

Well, I'm from Louisiana too...so here's my list (I am infamous for playing with my food): I eat boudin, which some think that alone is nasty....but I love it, love it love it...I slit the casing all the way down and eat it as if it's rice dressing.  Cajun food is my favorite!  Don't get me started on crawfish...I only eat pure cane syrup, no Aunt Jemima, no Mrs. Butterworth, nope; we are talking thick as straight molasses dark syrup.I eat my strawberrys with sugar and then I lick the bowl (like a dog would) to get all the sugary water.  I mix my corn and potatoes if they are on the same plate as a small tribute to my late uncle who used to do that all the time and say, "It's all going to the same place".And the big one...FI thinks is soooo nasty.  I love, love, love unheated food.  I will eat cold chicken, cold pizza, cold turkey, cold red beans, you name it.  I mean, we are taking straight out the refrigerator.

LMAO @ Cat and Blue. Y'all bout to get me fired over here laughing so hard. I am always the late one but I had to answer this one because I think we all got a lil ghettoredneck c'untry in all of us. So on with my cuntry side: I sometimes eat corn starch right out the box. Have almost choked a couple of times because I took too much to the head. I too have poured syrup on bread. I just think it taste real good. I sometimes use sugar if there is no sugar. If I am real thirsty and really don't want to take the time to get a glass  I will drink juice right out the container, and put it back in the fridge. It's a shame tho cause if I see my kids doing it I will knock their lips off. After FI makes a cake or brownies I will lick the beaters from the mixing machine and the cake bowl. I hurry up and beat  my kids to it.I will completely clean a chicken bone when at home. Grissle (sp) and all. Fi start pickin at me because in public I will leave all kinds of stuff on the bone but at home it's on.

I was also born in Alabama! I get down with the Cornbread (Home made not Jiffy! LOL!!! ) mixed with buttermilk, whole milk and sugar! I like to have the cornbread warmed!!! Great eating. Things that I have eaten but may not have access to it any more since I moved to NC: Biscits (sp) and syrup, Deer meat, Squirral (sp), Home made Pork skins, Pigs Feet, Hot Sausages and I am sure there are some more things. I just can't think of it at the moment.

bigshow and cat, i can't get down with roadkill and chitlings. I went down to va (straight c'untry va, not just va beach) to visit my friend's fam and i made the mistake of being in the house when they were cooking that thing. I don't have to close my eyes right now for the smell to smack me just as hard in the face as it did when i was in the room smelling it. good googa mooga.

I eat syrup pudding with Sweet tea. Yeah. Sweet enough to give you cavities in one sitting. Not sure if syrup pudding is something other people eat, but so far, only my grandma makes it. it's like spongey, like a sponge cake or something, but brown and tastes like syrup. Bigshow! NO! I JUST lost 6lbs, through no effort what so ever, and I do not need to go ask my grandma to make buiscuts and fried salmon with Cane syrup! I'm too hungry now

I love Mayonnaise & sour cream in my Homemade mashed potatoes!  I used to love syrup on my grits as a kid!  Haven't done it in a while, but I'd probably still eat it.

Ok, so I'm in SC and ghetto redneck country too, lol! Let's see.... I eat BBQ pigfeet. I know yall have had a bottle of coke soda and put a bag of salted peanuts in it and then drink it and eat the peanuts at the same time. I put hot sauce on pizza, eat grits with apple butter, vinegar on collards and mustard greens. Oh and don't forget about plums and vinegar. I pick plums from the tree, wash 'em and dip in vinegar. And I still love sunflower seeds. It's sad that I'm not even from the south... I'm a city girl turned country, lol!

Am I too late!?I'm a suburban/city girl with c'untry-ass parents! When I was little I loved:--white rice with vinegar--cornbread with buttermilk--lye corn (still do)--boiled peanuts--ketchup on white bread--'home burgers'--thick homemade burgers with green peppers and onions diced in it served on soggy white bread with ketchup. I still get cravings for it!Still love----fried chicken w/hot sauce. cold fried chicken in the morning--fried catfish with spaghetti--collards and cornbread w/hot sauce--cornbread dressing--potato salad and ham, together at the same timeI can't wait for thanksgiving so I can get some of this stuff...=)ooooh, and I cannot, will not touch chitlins, pigs feet, ears, snout, nuts, etc. My dad always proudly declares he'll eat a pig 'from the rooter to the tooter.' ick.
