Re: Confessions.

  • I have really bad gas pains in my stomach today. I've been trying all day to fart. I just let a huge one rip in my office, thank God it doesn't stink. But I was tempted to do the arm pump.

  • I'm sorry to hear that Kati. Does she realize the damage she's done?I doubt it.  She is always telling my anorexic 14 year old cousin that she looks great :(  There is no way she weighs 100 lbs.  I was shocked that she got her period earlier this year.
  • cacoffer - Your dress looked *great* on you!  Don't let anyone else take away the excitement you have about it.AC - best of luck you you!confession - I'm afraid I won't find a dress that doesn't make me look like a cow.  I'm overweight, and most days I think I look cute at least in part b/c I know what's flattering on me.  But when I looked back at pics of me in the dresses that I thought looked best in the store - ugh *shudder*.  Cow city.  I want to lose weight, but I'm not going to buy a dress that requires me to - that's crazy-making.
  • Shelly - I used some of mine before the wedding too. I didn't feel bad about it at all and thought that my guests would think I was silly if I didn't.

  • Brie and Twinkie - Don't feel bad. You probably didn't get the jobs because you're overqualified and the employers don't want to take a chance at you jumping ship when you get offered a better job. Which I'm sure will happen soon! Also, if you do want a job as a hotel clerk, etc. for in the meanwhile, don't put your advanced degrees on your resume/application. That's a clear sign that you're not in it for the long haul...
  • Well, I'm not thinking we're going to break up any time soon.  Also, its stuff we don't have.  The crock pot has been great.

  • Shelly, I think that's fine as long as you will re-buy everything and send it back to the gift givers in the unlikely event that something happens.  My mom and her family INSISTED we use the stuff they gave to us so we have been.  I am going to try not to use the stuff I get at my shower tomorrow though.
  • Here's a good one for you.FI and I have been slammed with money issues lately- one after another after another, and I'm very seriously considering staying in the US after we get married so I can *hopefully* find a job and at least help us.  Even if it means being 4000 miles apart. :(
  • Shelly - We only used a few items before the wedding, crock pot being one of them. It was nice to have one. If something had gone wrong, I would have written everyone a check for the amount of the gift(s) they gave us.

  • Also, if you do want a job as a hotel clerk, etc. for in the meanwhile, don't put your advanced degrees on your resume/application. That's a clear sign that you're not in it for the long haul...I don't want to be a desk clerk, but I'll do it for the money and yeah, I would jump ship in a minute for a better job. When they ask for a resume, I think it's kind of dishonest to take my degree/degrees off it, and it would look suspicious anyway since my last four jobs have all been working for my law school as a RA, etc.

  • Amoro, I don't blame you. Money issues can be ROUGH. Not something a newlywed couple needs. How long are you guys supposed to be staying in Italy? is there ANY way you can find employment there? Or is there a crapton of red tape?

  • I will also confess that I just checked my registries and only two new items have been purchased.  I'm now terrified I am going to get a bunch of lingerie that a) I probably won't ever wear and b) I will have to open in front of my mom and FMIL.
  • Kati - Or you may hit the jackpot like I did and received lingerie FROM your lovely (F)MIL! :)

  • Mag - You looked gorgeous on your wedding day. End of story.

  • Kati - Or you may hit the jackpot like I did and received lingerie FROM your lovely (F)MIL! :)Oh, goodness, I hope not!  I don't get the lingerie thing at all.  We've lived together for years and my ratty sweats have always been just fine.  Now that we're getting married I suddenly have to try harder?
  • Amoro, I don't blame you. Money issues can be ROUGH. Not something a newlywed couple needs. How long are you guys supposed to be staying in Italy? is there ANY way you can find employment there? Or is there a crapton of red tape?We were supposed to be here for only 2 years, but then they hired him as a local, which means we can stay... well, indefinitely.  There are two ways for me to work- one is under the table because I don't have the right kind of visa.  The second is for me to be sponsored by a company who will then pay for the visa process.  Essentially the only company in the area that I could work for (because of language barriers) is the one FI works for.  Unfortunately, they have a lovely rule barring spouses from working for the same company. We're trying to move home and we've got feelers out, but we have to wait and it's frustrating having to rely on other people and being so... stuck and kind of helpless.
  • Kati - You raise a good point. The lingerie I received at my shower has been sitting in a gift bag in the closet, untouched since the day I got it.

  • Mag - Oh, you know it! ;-)

  • I know I am late, but Kati, my grandmother is somewhat similar. She does not mean any harm, but she simply doesn't think about her words. She is constantly talking with some interest/pride about her youngest daughter, who at 40 still fits children's clothes and quite clearly has anorexia. When I was ill, I remember my grandmother saying, 'oh, I was thinner than you when I was your age!'- which she totally was not, because I have seen pictures, but yeah... not the type of thing you say to someone with an eating problem! My mother and all of her sisters have low self-esteem. As much as I love my grandma, I think that her thoughtless words are very much to blame. My confession is that now I have my dress, I want to wear it everywhere. If FI wasn't home, I would be wearing it right now! haha.
  • Ive lost enough weight recently that none of my underwear fit me properly (ie I have to hitch them up when I walk)... but im honestly too cheap to buy new underwear when I have more important things to do with my money. I feel like a bit of a bum though that my underwear dont fit.Oh, and there is some punk kid in my neighborhood who drives this tiny motorbike (its about 2 ft tall from the ground, the wheels cant be more than 3/4ft in diameter) that sounds like a really loud chainsaw. He drives it around constantly. I have seriously considered hitting him with my car a number of times now.
