Postage Issue

So I made the mistake of being extremely excited that all of our invites were assembled addressed and ready to be mailed out for next Friday.  I took one of the invites to the post office today to ask about having them hand cancelled.  The woman working informed me that because there was a small bump in the envelope it would be an additional $0.20 per invite - WHAT?  This wasn't a problem when I took them to the post office 2 months ago to make sure I had enough postage on them... now I don't know what to do!  I have 185 invites in boxes and it seems they all need extra stamps.  Did anyone else have this problem?

You should ping fejesmk - she just had this same issue with her invites. I'm not much help - I'm still in the design stages of doing my invitations. Hope you get it all straightened out!

happend to me too. So I ended up with cute wedding ring stamps, plus an addition "buffalo" stamp on each invite. I was aggravated but I couldn't do anything about it so I just shrugged and sent them on their way.

Oh my! Just postage stamp them. Seriously, all this hand cancelling non-sense (IMO) is just not worth it! I mean, had you ever even heard of it before theknot? Trust, no one else has either :) Put one of the new ring stamps on 'em and get 'em in the mail so you can start getting RSVPS- that's the important part! So exciting your invites are going out. Mine should be in the mail by tomorrow a.m. too!

I had a bump on mine, had them hand canceled, and didn't have any problems at all. My bump was from where a thick ribbon was knotted. I dropped mine off in Hebron, KY.

There is a wedding cake $0.61 cent stamp that we used on our heavy invites (anything over one ounce is raised up a rate). I didn't need nor want them hand cancelled. They're just an envelope. Yeah I spent alot on invites. People just tear into them anyways so I didn't care much.SO since there is a bump they are charging you the 20cents each because they cannot go through the machine. You can always go to another post office and see what they say. But remember if that bump gets caught in the machine then it'll ruin your invites.
