Disposable cameras.

Re: Disposable cameras.

  • We put a "Share your Photos" info on the programs, in the OOT hotel/welcome bags, and post cards at the reception.  We set up a site on shutterfly.  Got a TON of great pictures.  I really spread the news about it and got great response!

We also had about 15 blank CD's, in ready to mail padded envelopes so people could burn their pictures to the CD's and then mail them back to us.  Also  a huge hit.

  • I think you should do Tide's poem, and at the bottom write "NO GENITALS."

[QUOTE]Not to be a turd in the punchbowl, but every time I've heard of people doing this, they wind up spending a ton of money on film and developing, and get very, very few usable pictures.  Usually kids take them and wind up taking a bunch of stupid pictures of the floor or whatever. I'd do photoshare cards on Vistaprint for free if you're looking to get pics from guests.

We did it because my parents thought it would be a terrific idea...we spent over $200 getting them developed and on CDs and used one....ONE.  Out of 300!  And some people didn't use theirs so we had a bunch wth like two taken.
It's time. Adoption saving and process started in November 2012.

  • It sounds like a good idea, but honestly I doubt it will work. Most of the time people ignore the cameras or kids get a hold of them. Or they just use them to be goofy and get you some odd shots.  As a guest, I probably wouldn't take the pictures.

We had disposable cameras and people took pictures of the weirdest things, like the toilet, the top of the tent, and a bio-hazard bag (no idea where that bag even came from). And I guarantee that even if we had lists of what pictures to take, we'd still end up with the ones we got. I enjoyed not knowing what I was going to see, rather than pictures already planned out.

  • I saw this the other day, at least the quality would be good, and you could print what you want.

  • My disposables were a waste of money.  Maybe 10% of the photos were even usable.  I assumed adult guests would be able to handle it, but the results were very disappointing.  You might get better results with better instructions, though.  Good luck.

I've been to weddings with those lists of things each table is supposed to take.  Not going to lie... we always ignore it.  It feels like homework and all I want to do at a wedding is eat, drink and chat it up with my friends.

Tide's poem and list, while cute, is just way too long.  My eyes glazed over and stopped reading.  I'd do the same at the wedding.  Guaranteed.
  • I'm doing the photoshare cards and taking that list and cutting it down a lot. No rhyming. Most of my friends are picture-takers or scrapbookers, so I know I will get some interesting and good photos from them. I'm probably taking my own camera just in case.

  • If it helps--our disposable camera experience turned out quite well.  I didn't plan on doing them but my dad really wanted to and and took it on as a project.  It's true that there are some random crotch shots and a lot of general crowd shots, but we also have some really sweet pictures.  My husband's friends somehow managed to totally avoid the pro photographer, and I was sad not to have any record of them being there, but they were in some of the disposable shots (yay!).  Also, the kids got ahold of some of them and, lo and behold, took some decent pictures, despite only being 5 :)

[QUOTE]I got prints of our e-pics from both shutterfly and snapfish. In my book, shutterfly wins hands down. The snapfish pics looked really washed out for some reason.

Opalsky, did it bother your guests that they needed to make an account to upload photos?

    <----overthinking this.
