A son of a family friend of Mike's parents (you follow?) got married last year. I don't think I ever shared their doosy of a registry. Besides the standard crockpot, tools, kitchen utensils, it included items like this:Glide dental flossToilet paperPaper platesCutter insect repellantNivea Smooth Sensation lotion (I think that's the stuff that's supposed to reduce the need to shave...)

We registered at Crate and Barrel this weekend and had a really hard time picking things. We only have like 20 items on the registery and really can't think of anything we need. I feel like we should register at BBB also, but there is nothing we need from there either. If we don't register we will end up with lava lamps and plastic forks. (From Tony's side) WWYD?

You know Dawg, I just looked at it as an opportunity to upgrade. We didn't NEED towels, but I'd always wanted nice, big towels. We did register for china and I kind of regret that. But still, it's fun to replace your plates, cookware, etc with nicer stuff.

I didn't want to register for China and it is one of my favorite wedding gifts. We also upgraded our knives and I really like our china protectors. We registered for pretty leather ones and got them.

That was my thought too but I got resistance from Tony. We need china but didn't see anything we liked. I guess we will wait a few months until the new stuff comes out.

picking out china caused tears and death threats. May I advise you to look online a LOT. Also, this is ours, and I love it. http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=105205&CategoryID=28943We settled on it because it was subtle and classic enough to satisfy Mr. Mod but each of the plates has a different pattern which made me happy. We also liked that it had a teapot and a coffeepot. (we did have to get the teapot in England though). It was on sale for $90 a place setting the majority of the time at Macy's which we also found to be a good price point.

I think my favorite thing off my registry was nice silverware and a big beautiful box to hold it all.

I'm surprised by how quickly people are buying the china from our registry. I guess it is still a popular wedding gift.

Ok, so it's normal for the registering to not be fun? That makes me feel better. Tony is totally wigged out by the idea of telling people what to buy him and is not making the process fun at all. We did pick out sliverware and a pretty box to hold it. If we just get that, and the cup cake holder, I will be happy.

My silverware was my favorite too. I still love it. My least favorite was the three crockpots and all the crystal we got. When they gave them to us, every single person said, "you forgot to register for crystal/a crockpot." Um, no we didn't.

Mr. Mod was just like Tony. Made me stabby. The registry helper girl was not amused when she came up to us and asked if she could help us and I said "Yes are the knives on this floor? I need a big one right now".The way we dealt with it is I registered for 95% of the stuff and didn't tell him what or why. I did it all online. He got involved with the China and then a few bits and pieces while we were looking at the China. He loved 85% of what we got and he is a picky emeffer

My towels are probably the thing we registered for that I love the most. But we didn't really get much in the way of gifts from our wedding. We got a bunch of Target gift cards, which was sort of annoying since we were only registered for 3 items there.

I mostly did the registry myself. I took Andy, who showed very little enthusiasm once the novelty of the price gun wore off. Then I went out a second time by myself.

My H loved registering. He loves to go into home stores. We went to Pier One and he was in heaven. He picks out 90% of our stuff.

I am sitting here trying to think about our wedding registry experience, and I cannot remember. Like at all. Clearly it was a memorable experience. I think we both just sat down in front of Target.com for an hour, picked some crap, and called it a day.Now, baby registry. That was a train wreak. My husband got annoyed at all of the options of products he did not understand. With an attitude, he asked why we needed a bouncy seat AND a high chair. I walked away and refused to speak to him. We left the store shortly thereafter and I proceeded to sob for the next hour for no apparent reason. Not one of my finest moments.

I didn't like registering because the stores I wanted to register at (Ikea, Pier 1, World Market) didn't have registries. I should have created an Amazon.com registry, but I didn't think about it.Registering with my H was a pain. He spent 2 hours comparing breadmakers and then threw a tantrum when it was time to move onto bedding and curtains. I finished registering alone online.

F loved doing the wedding registry, but he'd do things like register for 5 different chip and dip bowls. I went back later and deleted a bunch of stuff he picked, and he never noticed.For the baby registry, he was only interested in the strollers, so I did all the other stuff with my cousin.

We just registered for everyday dinnerware and the plates chipped like a mofo. They weren't cheap, either. So I started collecting Fiestaware instead and I love it so. I should've registered for that to begin with.Tim is a pain because he LOATHES patterns. I got him to agree on bedding with a simple stripe, but that's it.

A hated registering, didn't see any reason to do it, and resisted me every step of the way. Granted, he had a little registry baggage from a prior busted engagement and the subsequent returns, division of property, etc. I did most of it myself online and just ran it by him after it was mostly done. We didn't get a ton of gifts because it was a small wedding (<20) and we sent announcements after the fact to maybe 75 people. But people asked about registry as soon as we got engaged, and I was glad to have somewhere to direct them so we didn't get random stuff we couldn't return.It's hard to register when you have pretty much everything you need already.

I generally like celebrating my friend's happy news, esp. if they feed me, so multiple showers don't bother me for people I love and know not to be gift-grabbing AWs. I don't think 2nd showers are out of line, esp. if you are having the opposite gender. Esp if there is cake.
