Wedding dress shopping question

I am going to start dress shopping and am trying to book 2-3 appointments in a weekend (when my Mom is in town.)  How long should I plan on staying at each salon?TIA!

I have an appointment for myself tomorrow and they said to plan for 1.5 hours (I imagine it may take longer than that).I'd plan on 2 hours, just to give yourself some wiggle room!

I would have to agree. I think 2 hours is best since it does allow for some wiggle room. HTH! Good luck!

I'd say 2 hours. I think I was at my Davids Bridal appointment for 2 hours and I tried on 6 dresses - well, one I tried on twice, so 7 *tries*. HTH!

All of the appointments I have had were 1 hour. You should ask when you make the appointment. BTW I did three in a weekend, but it was kind of over-kill. I would limit yourself to two salons with your mom and go to the third with one or two friends on another weekend.

I think that sounds about right.  Some people recommend doing your hair and make up to help give you a better "real" idea.  I don't mean all formal and all, but not just coming from the gym look.  Have fun and don't be discouraged if you and your mom have different tastes!  Both mom and MOH hated me in the sample dress (it was 4 sizes too small), but I just knew it was the one.  When it came in and fit, they totally agreed.

Davids seems to take longer than most.

I allowed for an hour for each appointment but gave myself some extra cushion for running over or travel time.  I did 3 appointments in a day w/ my sisters, mother, and future mother-in-law and sister-in-law.  It wasa litte intense, but I had specifically built in an extra 1.5 break for lunch before the last shop.  The woman at the last shop (Betsy Robinson) that helped me was great - but also made sure I knew that at that point, I was likely experiencing "white out" and wouldn't be at my best to pick a dress.  She just set some aside after I tried a bunch on and made a follow-up appointment.  I ended up getting my dress there. On hair and make-up.  It may help you feel more 'bridal' but I did my make-up just b/c you have to look at yourself in a mirror all day.  For my own self-esteem it was worth doing my make-up.  :)

Thanks, ladies!  I think doing my hair and make-up will definitely help me mentally - thanks for the tip!
