reception timeline? when to do father/daughter mother/son dance?

Do you think its better to do these early---b/f dinner--right after the couple is announced--or to wait until after dinner? I'm not quite sure what is best and wondered if anyone else had any preference? thanks for any help!!!

I was wondering the same thing but made my mind up after the wedding I went to this past weekend.  They did it right after their dance and to be honest, it was too many formal in a row.  Think we'll wait until after dinner.

We did it as people were finishing dinner, right after our cake cutting.  I think PP is right - there can be quite a few formalities in the beginning of the evening  (announcements, first dance, multiple toasts, etc) and it can be nice to break things up a bit. HTH!

We'll be doing both during dinner.  Since we will get our entree first (and not get to eat it anyway!) we've decided to do the dances while our guests are sitting & eating to save time.

We definitely ate- it was a priority for me! We got served first, ate, did table rounds while the rest of the course came out.
