Acceptance rate poll!

This is a self-interested poll.  I'm still trying to decide how big of an invitation net to cast.  I've heard you can expect around 50% acceptance for a DW, but I wonder if the economy has made that number drop.  So...For those of you who've already sent out invitations and received RSVP's, how many people did you invite?  How many yes's did you get?For those of you planning to send out or in the process of sending out invitations/STDs, how many people are you inviting?  How many yes's are you estimating you'll have?

Re: Acceptance rate poll!

  • In our case it's about 50% as well.  We invited a total of 60 guests and 23 have already booked.  I know a few more are trying to come and I'm pretty sure some will.  It's definitely an economy thing though.  FI's family has almost all booked and my family has almost all told us they can't come.  We originally estimated about 30 including our guest's guests.  But we still have about 1 month until the RSVP's are due and 3 until the wedding.
  • I think it's really hard to come up with average because each bride does something different.  ie. If you invite only those super close to you obviously you will get a higher percentage of yes's.  We invited 200, everyone we would have to a traditional wedding.  We have 27 booked and will probably end up with no more than 2-4 more.  So we're at like 15%.
  • We invted about 150 people.  So far 30 are attending.  We knew that a majority of our guests wouldn't be coming to our wedding, we just wanted to extend the invitation. I'm estimating that we'll probably have around 40-50 people in the end.
  • We sent DW invites to 40 couples.  We have 14 couples actually making the journey to Jamaica.
  • I'm working on our guess list now, and what I'm doing is listing everyone we would invite to a traditional wedding. Then were eliminating "courteous" invites and other people who we would be obligated to invite. We have a good idea of those that will for sure go, and those that for sure won't. Then were left with the gray area, and are just guesstimating on who would be more likely to attend. I hope that makes sense. Were expecting anywhere from 50 to 70. Hopefully closer to 50. Lol.
  • Well I am a little different. We are having our DW in the us(florida) we have sent out 100 STD and so far 60 family's have responded as we will be there. But we will not mail out the invites intil January 1. So alot could change between that time. Also I am a little freaked out because I only have 80 chairs at the wedding site.. Also we are getting married during Spring break so this is making it easier for families to attend with kido's out of school. this is awful to say but I hope everyone DOES NOT COME!!! family of 4x100 is 400 people and thats 320 more people than I have Chairs!!!!
  • well, I think that depends on who all you are sending invitations to. We sent out quite a few as formalities, knowing they wouldn't come. we sent out 50 invitations, and had 20 guests. We had more than we had anticipated. Even though times are tough for many of our guests, they were able to afford it because of all the specials. we anticipated less than 10 guests, but the rates were so good lots more came!
  • great question - i have  been wondering the same too. haven't sent anything out yet, but the more people we tell, the more excited they seem. to me -- thats scary!!! im hoping for 50 and we are probably inviting about 100+(including those w/ guests).. but im starting to think we might have closer to 70 or so. not too bad, but still more than i bargained for in doing a dw!
