My FMIL is awesome!

I have to share this with you all because I'm so touched. The other day, FI came home and handed me a piece of white cloth with lace on the edges and a couple of pieces of blue ribbon.  When I looked at him like "WTH is this??" he proceeded to read this poem:This bonnet at first seems small in your hands,A treasure of lace and ribbon bands. But this gift is more than linen and charmsFor the sweet baby who rests in Mother's arms. From boxes long sealed, she will search for the hat,Snip off the ribbons, and after thatHand over this handkerchief to her son, A young handsome groom. She will hand him a gift, a family heirloom. He will give it to the girl who holds his heartTo have and to hold, til death do they part.I teared up when I got it!  It was the bonnet that was made for him when he was a baby and now it is my something old.  How sweet is that???

Erin, that was really touching!  Lucky girl!  I can only HOPE that I would ever get something that personal from my FIL's.

I just have to figure out how to "wear" it on the wedding day.  My dress is a chiffon sheath and it's clingy.  I couldn't even do spanx because you could see the line where they ended on my thigh.  So - putting it with a garter on my thigh is not an option.  I thought about wrapping it around my stems on my bouquet.  Any other ideas?

I was going to suggest wrapping it around your bouquet.  I always think that's such a neat idea.I have a charm that my Godfather gave me a few years ago that I'm having wrapped in the stems of my bouquet since he passed away.

What a sweet story!  FSIL got married in June, and gave me the garter she wore.  Onto it was sewn a heart-shaped blue crystal that  DF's mom wore on a ribbon around her neck when she married DF's stepdad (who raised him).  I'll be carrying the handkerchief my mom carried when she married my dad, so I'll have something from each side.I think wrapping it around your bouquet is a good idea.  FSIL also tucked her grandmother's handkerchief into her bouquet.

So sweet!I like the idea of wrapping it around your bouquet as well.  The only other idea I have is putting it in your shoe. Not such a good idea, huh? heh.

Not sure I could get it into my strappy sandals.  Maybe I could tie it to one of my heels!! LMAO!  Or stick it down my cleavage and leave a little hanging out to indicate I stuffed my bra?

That's a beautiful sentiment! Your FMIL sounds like a sweet person.I love the idea of wrapping it around your boquet, but you could tack it into the underside of your skirt if you're worried about losing it.

Just saw the note about your dres...tacking it under your dress certainly wouldn't work!
