DJ

I'm trying to pick out my DJ, but I feel like its sticking my hand in a hat and drawing a name. Anyone have any good suggestions on how to pick DJs? Or at least, any good recommendations? My fiance and I don't really want a lot of club music and we want someone who isn't going to talk a lot either! HELP PLEASE!!

We're in this EXACT situation right now.  And yes, it feels like you're sticking your hand in a hat since you don't really get to see them work.  Kurt Colone from Mike Staff was recommended to us.  We went to visit him and about a week later found out that his wife is expecting and their due date is the DAY BEFORE our wedding date.  So now we feel like we're back to the drawing board.  Kurt (who is a co-owner at Mike Staff) suggested two other DJs to us and I can forward their videos onto you - assuming you're not getting married on April 10.  :)  We're also going to meet DJ Dan tonight.  You can see his info at http://www.michigan-wedding-dj.com/ Both were recommended to me by a wedding coordinator. This likely isn't a lot of help but you're not in this boat alone.  I'll let you know how things go with DJ Dan and I'll check back to see if you get any good recommendations! Good Luck!

We liked working with Platinum Mix -- we had Garret, a very low-key DJ who kept things relaxed. Our crowd wasn't big on dancing but they loved Garret because they said he was no pressure.  And he played a good variety of music (including our quirky requests).  Sara, the owner, also comes highly recommended.

Enchanted Evenings DJ. Chuck & Deb are a hubby & wife team, and they rock. We hired them because they did such a great job at my stepbrother's wedding. He listened & did exactly what I wanted. We had very specific music played since it was a Halloween-themed wedding, and I didn't want a lot of that hokey Halloween music played. www.enchantedeveningsdj.com

I've heard nothing but good things about Mike Staff. They have a ton of dj's and you can go and watch videos of all of them and pick the one you want.

were using night and day productions --- they have several different attys. we spent like 45 min on the phone w/the owner and she asked a bunch of diff questions. from there she narrowed it down to like 3 different dj's and we watched the videos and talked to the dj's and chose which one we wanted. hth
