save the dates... "and guest"

when sending out save the dates do you include "friends name and guest" or just "friends name".. since its a dw, i assume i should clarify ahead of time that yes, you are invited with guest... but wanted to see what you guys think. also .. for those that i REALLY don't want to invite w/ guest but sort of have to.. is it awful to leave it semi-ambiguous??? (the evil streak in me comes out!)

Re: save the dates... "and guest"

  • I think since it's a DW it's hard to expect people to come on their own, reserve a whole room by themselves, etc. Who do they spend time with before & after WR events?
  • For our std's we just put friends name.  We're going on a cruise though and our website states that cabins are based on double occupancy so it's to be assumed that we don't care if they bring a guest.
  • Sorry, to address your first question... I think addressing your STDs to just the friends name is fine.
  • We added "and guest" to our STDs. I guess I never even thought about just addressing it to our friends! I think either way is acceptable.
  • Just the friend's name unless they had a known significant other. Out of  4 "and guests" we had on our list (and we really limited these, 2 have already moved on from their relationships and will be coming alone. Once you send the actual invites out, then it would be find to clarify and say "and guest" but I always try to get the name if psosible. And to the posters suggestions above, I think if it is a true destination or cruise wedding, it may be hard to limit the "and guest" as many singles may not want to be alone a whole week or weekend (vs. just going to a 4-5 hr hotel reception).
