I know we all have our own opinions on this day and it gets bogged down with politics and so forth..But, I would like to extend my deepest condolences for anyone that may have lost someone in this tragedy; or know of a friend/family who has lost someone. For the month of September in NYC, they have the lights on where the Towers stood..I remember looking out the window of our Brooklyn apartment and seeing the lights..Since I hadn't been to NY since the tragedy, I was curious to know why the lights were on and Ryan told me that for the whole month, they have the lights on to commemorate the incident..It seems silly, but all I remember is I started crying..When I think about it, I started crying over 2 LIGHTS! Really, it was more than that; I knew of families who had lost someone and I had family involved. It really saddens me that this happened to our country, but I truly hope that things are able to be rectified and we can plan a better future ourselves and families. <3

    That was beautifully said. I never knew about the lights. I was there a couple of years after 9/11 and it was amazing. I was sad that I hadn't seen the towers before. Even though I didn't personally lose anyone in the tradgedy, I felt like I did on that day and even now I am sad remembering all the innoccent lives lost. My thoughts and prayers will be with those families all over the world grieving.

    Today, 9/11 is actually FI's 29th birthday, it feels strange to celebrate on a national day of mourning, especially since everything is so fresh in our minds with the war going on. I remember I was still in highschool, in class watching this on the news and I had no clue what was going on or what the World Trade Center even was at the time. It wasn't until I got home and asked my parents about it that I truly understood the magnitude of it all. It's so sad what happened to those people and their families, I'll never forget being in class watching this on TV. It's hard to believe this happened almost 10 years ago.

    It is so crazy to think I was a freshman in high school when this happened. Today I am teaching 5th grade. Before we took our lunch break, I was talking to the kids about Sept 11th. They were babies when it happened. It is inspiring to talk to them about it and see all the America shirts and Obama shirts that students are wearing today. They do not completely understand but they want to. Crazy story... I know a lady who's brother was supposed to be the pilot that day. He ended up having to switch with another pilot because of a scheduling conflict. Had he not switched, he would have been on that place. It just lets us know that in some way, we are all connected.

    This day is still very fresh in mind and will be for years to come.  I was a senior in high school in NY when this happened.  I am from Long Island, NY, we lived about 40 mins from NYC and 35 people from my hometown had lost their lives on that day.  Including my next door neighbor who was a NYC Firefighter, he was a battalion Cheif and was one of the greatest and nicest men I've ever known.  Our town/ State/ Country was in mourning for months after this tragedy.  I still get choked up about it to this day.  Let us never forget 9-11-2001, all the men and women that lost their lives on that fateful day.  And be grateful to all the men and women that are and have been fighting for our freedom, we love all of you and pray that you get home safe.
