Wedding Woes

Don't be too hard on him. These things happen.

OAKLAND, Calif. – A California preacher who foretold of the world's end only to see the appointed day pass with no extraordinarily cataclysmic event has revised his apocalyptic prophecy, saying he was off by five months and the Earth actually will be obliterated on Oct. 21.

Harold Camping, who predicted that 200 million Christians would be taken to heaven Saturday before catastrophe struck the planet, apologized Monday evening for not having the dates "worked out as accurately as I could have."

I read this story this morning.

Seriously, Harold Camping, GIVE IT UP. It's time to call it a day on the predictions. I know you like to rile up the crazies, but it wasn't cute when Jerry Fallwell did it, and it's not cute when you do it either.

    Who would listen to him?
Did he skip over the part that we don't know the day, time or hour?

    He's crazy cakes.

He's 89, right?  He'll be facing his own personal rapture sooner than later.

I was telling H that I will be very surprised if he doesn't get sued. Seems to me people who believe in the rapture are the same kind of people who are going to look for someone else to blame (and pay) when they realize they've quit their jobs and squandered their money for nothing.

So I know there are some Mayan calendar people predicting the end in 2012, but did all this May 21 crap come from just this one guy or are there more out there that reached the same conclusion?

I think they're busy pretending they weren't duped--ya kow, like people who were conned who pretend they weren't.

Hell, how many years later is it, and my step-grandma still believes that Jim and Tammy Faye has 'a beautiful thing' and that 'teh devil ruined it'
