David was thinking about doing a LAN party for his bachelor party. I managed to surpress my burst of laughter but when I told my BFF I died laughing (think Southpark episode where they are all in the same room on their computers playing an online game)I'm sorry but just bc half of your bridal party is into that...what about the other half?! He did get the vibe that I thought it was amusing and that I think he should do something different but I told him...it's his bachelor party he can do whatever he wants...I just thought we were going to be doing it on the same night and since I have underage attendees we were going to end up at the house and if they were going to end up at the house it was going to be a joint one at the end..which I don't care...but he was concerned for the FEW friends that are socially inept. My theory...they need to learn to socialize at SOME point. But whatever. My mom offered their game house to end up at so I guess we'll see what he decides to do.But seriously...a LAN party??? I'm sorry but that is soooo funny to me and I feel bad laughing about it...but seriously?! for your bachelor party?!

I don't understand why people can't drive in the rain. It isn't snow or ice. It is rain. Don't follow as close as you normally do and for heaven's sake HIT THE GAS PEDAL!!! This isn't rocket science, it is called driving. Figure it out.

LOL~ Apple that is too funny. I give LAN parties the old side-eye on a regular day....like I hear that Quake con is a super smelly event.--I admit I drive a smidge slower on rainy days...I've had very scary experiences with hydroplaning. I usually stay above 60 though and in the right lane.

This is ong but.....I almost went to jail this morning.  I was waiting in line on the exit ramp on the GB tollway and this yucky van with spare tires was driving way way too fast and texting at the same time and almost rear ended me.  I saw it comming and swerved over into the shoulder to avoid getting rear-ended. He slammed on his breaks just before he reached the car that was in front of me!  I looked at him like  WHAT THE HECK??  and do you know he fliped ME off!!!!!  THEN, he proceeded to tailgate the car he had almost hit as it inched forward so that I could not get back on to the roadway from the shoulder and he kept making all these gestures with his hands to me.  Then, once we got on the road I sped up to get away from his crazy butt and he got in front of me and then slammed on his breaks trying to make me hit him.  I was of course livid by this point and had I not been running late for work, I would have follwed him to Kansas if I had to...I was shaking mad and praying for those spare tires to blow out on him...I know that's horrible but I was crazy mad!!!!!

Driving slower is one thing. Precautionary driving if you will. That isn't what bothers me. Driving 15 mph on I30 in the middle lane and STILL riding your brakes when nobody is infront of you is what I'm referring to. Lindsay- I would've reported him. That made me mad just reading it.

I'm another slow driver when it rains. My friend and I were on 30 once and it had been raining earlier in the day, so the roads were a little slick....this one car in front of us hit a slick spot and hit us, we were in the right lane, spun a few time and ended up in the left lane. Thank God there were no cars coming that close behind us...ever since then I drive slow.

I'm totally fine with slow drivers in the rain (and if it is bad enough I do this myself), as long as they stay in the right 2 lanes or so on a major highway. Driving super slow in the left lanes is just putting them in more danger!

Yes the ones that barely inch forward or drive slow to the point of being dangerous as well is what I am talking about as well. I drive more cautiously in the rain as well but I don't inch along in the left lane or anything like that. If you're that scared to drive in the rain...don't get on the highway...take the back roads where it's more ok to go slower than necessary and less dangerous.O.M.G. Lindsay...that is infuriating! I would have called 911 and reported him as a hazard...tell them that he is harassing you on the road and trying to get you to hit him and all that stuff.I also heard that they will be passing a law next month that doesn't allow you to text or talk on the phone while driving unless it's on a wireless headset. And in my opinion...if they are going to ban talking on the phone for safety reasons....they shouldn't allow it on wireless headsets either because it's not the lack of one hand while driving...if it was that they might as well ban eating and drinking while they're at it...it's the conversation you're having that is the distraction.

Lindsay, that is really scary! I'm glad you're ok. My BM's brother's girlfriend was killed by a crazy driver like that.  He was upset because she had to merge into his lane and he thought she cut him off, so when the lanes opened back up he kept swerving into her lane and she lost control, crossed the median and hit oncoming traffic.

Lindsay OMG I cannot believe that! I would have followed him and gotten his plate at least.I wish they would ban phones and texting. Three times this week I have almost been hit by people texting or talking on the phone. One lady drifted over in my lane on 75 and seriously was 1/3 into the lane before she realized and jerked back. She came within inches of hitting me. Another guy ran two stop signs and almost hit me when he turned (from a coasting stop) talking on the phone. The other was a truck driver of a construction vehicle on 183 who was talking on the phone and almost rear ended me.  People need to remember that driving is the same thing as wielding a deadly weapon and you can't be alert and focused on driving if you are distracted by anything else. That goes for eating, make-up putting, reading etc.I am very pissed off this morning because the school I was supposed to be at failed to tell me they were closing for swine flu outbreak and I drove all the way over there in the rain for NOTHING. Why in the world would you not tell your music teacher who lives 15 miles away?

PRETEND THIS IS IN ITALLICS ( I no longer have the "I" button for some reason) "He was upset because she had to merge into his lane and he thought she cut him off, so when the lanes opened back up he kept swerving into her lane and she lost control, crossed the median and hit oncoming traffic" That is just horrible! I hope they got him for manslaughter or something!!!

The dog upstairs is howling again. DH talked to the owners, and I talked to the apt. office (who said they would do something about it). This was a week ago. I cannot study. What do I do next? Discuss while I go run errands.

It sucks and I would be annoyed and complaining also, but the fact of the matter is you live in an apartment.  They can't control their dog when they aren't home regardless of how much you complain.Apartment life sucks, most of us have been there.   We just suck it up and make the best of it.   I say go study at the library or somewhere quiet.

I caught my cousin lying to me this morning and I am getting a sort of morbid pleasure out of watching her try to weasel her way out of it.

The dog situation is a tough one... I'm not saying that the owners are bad people, but if a dog is whining throughout the day at being cooped up, then the dog is not in an appropriate environment.  I'm not sure if that justifies any sort of call to animal services or the humane society, but it just seems like the dog needs to have a yard to roam freely if he can't be inside for fear of destroying the owner's belongings.

So I'm starting to feel sorry for myself! Only 4 people have RSVP'd yes to my shower tomorrow and 6 have RSVP'd no (40 were invited). Do people just not RSVP anymore and/or do they just not go to showeres anymore? I guess I expected that my friends would want to be a part of this with me and most of them have lame excuses as to why they can't come.....a lot of them are people I either threw showers for or went to their showers not too long ago. I'm going to be so embarrased if only 4 people (one is my mom) comes tomorrow!

The owners need to give the dog some physical activity.  Our dog is cooped up during the day in he crate, but we also take her on long walks and to the dog park, so she just sleeps in her crate.  There's nothing wrong with keeping a dog in a crate during the day (for a *reasonable* amount of time anyway).

If FMIL says that on our wedding day she is "giving her son away" one more time, I might pop her!I am tired of planning our wedding.  It is pretty much not at all what I wanted, and I am over it.

Having to listen to someone else's dog screaming is not something you should have to put up with for an extended period of time.  Dogs can be trained not to bark or howl, and if the dog is too high strung or anxious there are medications that can help. If the dog is only howling when the owners are gone it might be seperation anxiety, not boredom.  When I first adopted Stella she would throw a fit whenever I left, whining and barking and crashing around in her crate.  I spent an entire weekend 'fake leaving' where I would put her in the crate, leave and come right back.  It really helped. I also filled a kong with peanut butter and froze it to leave in the crate with her whenever I was gone.  It helped keep her occupied.  I don't know if you know the nehibors well enough to suggest they research seperation anxiety and work with their dog so he knows they'll come home

Thank you for all your responses. Although I should never expect to hear what I want to hear, I also don't think I'm supposed to "suck it up and deal with it." Or drive somewhere else for that matter. Unfortunately, we do not know them very well, but since it's something that goes on when they are not home they just must not realize the extent of it. DH told them he could tell when they were gone, in hopes that they might realize, hey this is a safety issue (because if any one else figured that out they could break in). Now that we have a possible solution, maybe it will be easier. Oh and Mandy, FWIW I also don't think crating is a bad thing.

Apple, Stephen wanted to have a LAN party for his bachelor party, but that never happened! lol. I told him I might want the house for MY bachelorette party, and to think of 20 guys coming over with 40 computers. *shrugs* Sheesh. lol. That would have been a CRAP load of food we would have had to buy! lol. Hes not a drinker, so I know he would have been fine with no alcohol because all of his GM understood. (Lol. I have NO clue what alcohol had to do with anything!) BTW..Stephen asked me how would I feel if he got back into WOW, and I said I didnt care, so look for him REALLL soon! lol.

Allison, if you're home for the better part of a day or a week, maybe tally how much the dog is whining?  That's a lot to put on your shoulders, but if you write this down and explain to the owner how much the dog is whining they might realize that this is a serious problem and you're not just a hypersensitive neighbor who thinks two minutes is the same as all day.

I'm the kind of person that would call the non-emergency police number and complain.  If the dog is that loud then it has to qualify as a disturbance and if the police are there to witness it, then they will notify the owner.  I'm not sure if they write them a ticket or whatever, but I think you've dealt with it enough.  Besides, you've gone through all the appropriate avenues (the owner, the apartment management, etc.) to justify taking it to the next step.  Either that or you could notify the owner that you will call the police the next time you hear the dog.  My neighbors played their music so loud it would shake my wall, and all I had to do was tell them I was calling the police the next time and I haven't heard a peep from them since.
