Bridal Party Dress Help...

How did you ladies go about picking out the bridal party's dresses? David's Bridal is nice but I was really looking more at designers like Jasmine Bridal, Alfred Angelo etc.Can you name the designers you looked at and their price range? Two of my BMs are my sisters (so basically it's on my mom to pay for them). Another is FI's sister (who is working but I want to be price conscious). Point is, I don't wanna end up liking a dress for them and it's like $500 bucks.

I chose Bari Jay bridesmaids dresses because they were flowy. I have pics in my bio. Our wedding is on the beach so I wanted to the girls to have material that was too hot or overbearing. The price for the dress in my bio is 210.00 I have saw other options on their website that is below 200.00 so depending upon BM decision, we will go from there. However, most part I am going with Bari Jay. They are also sold on bestbridalprices.com

Thanks for the option. I did look at Bari Jay dresses and now I know how much they actually cost. That actually brings up a point I left out. How did you find out the price? Did you contact your bridal boutique or did you just call the number on the website? Also, did you check out color samples to see how the dress would look?

Yes I went to the bridal salon in Tampa, she had the swatches and BM were able to try options of the dress. The dresses are very well made. The prices on bestbridalprices.com that say original price, were the prices the bridal salon quoted me. HTH

I'm going with Alfred Angelo. My BMs vary is size and I liked how Alfred Angelo showed plus sized models on their website. You can order a swatch book from them. One of my BMs went to a store in CA and mailed them to me (gotta love her!). The dresses I liked were a little over $200. After seeing a few online I went to a boutique and had another BM try them on to make my final decision.

I haven't decided yet but I think that I'll go with Alfred Angelo and let each bridesmaid pick a style that flatters her, in the color that I decide. I will then place a *single* order for all of the dresses at *one* time (the BMs will reimburse me) so that they are all cut from the same fabric, as they will all be called in by the bridal salon at the same time (and the color will not vary as much). I like Alfred Angelo b/c it had a number of really pretty short and long dresses that looked modern - but that weren't terribly expensive. I asked 1-2 BMs for a typical price range of what they'd want to spend on the dress and went from there. I thought that alot of the David's Bridal dresses looked kind of on the cheap side given the material and the styling. I have had a hard time picking out the BMs' dresses so the idea of each BM picking her own dress (with me holding veto power, of course) works out well for me. Also, I think that the twin look is a little dated so I like the variety that results from each woman picking her own dress.

I looked at David's and Alfred Angelo. I went with Alfred Angelo because the quality was so much better and the price really wasn't terrible (the dresses were originally $140). Also, my girls got $25 off of their dresses since I purchased my gown at AA. I went to the store after browsing the catalog. They had swatches in the store. I don't trust catolog interpretations of color, almost NEVER reliable. Once I picked a style I had a couple girls try them on (I chose them based on who could get it done the soonest. hehe)
