Anybody been to Couples Resorts?

Hi everyone! So, I know the honeymoon is supposed to be the second best time in your life (besides the wedding day of course) but planning this trip is seriously stressing my FI and I out! We have been looking at Sandals, but have heard some really great things and some not so great things, so that worries us a bit. I was just looking at the Couples Swept Away and Couples Tower Isle. Has anyone been to either of these resorts? If so, I would love your opinions!! From the message boards on the website, it seems like a lot of Europeans that go there, but I may be completely off. They look gorgeous and have great rates, but I'm just nervous to pull the trigger on it. You only get 1 honeymoon, and I want it to be perfect! Thanks for any advice you may have.

Re: Anybody been to Couples Resorts?

  • Gosh, just imagine, if the wedding and the honeymoon are the best times of your life, what else in the marriage do you have to look forward to? It's all downhill from there!Seriously, perfection is overrated. What do the reviews say? I mean, are they complaining about things you care about as a traveller? And I totally don't understand your comment about Europeans. What's the concern there?
  • We have looked at SO many places, my head is spinning. We just want this to be a great trip, as we are not typically people who spend a ton on vacations. We want to live our HM up and go somewhere we probably wouldn't go otherwise. As far as the Europeans go, I did in no way mean that in a negative way. I was just wondering if anybody on here had been there since most knotties seem to be American.

  • I haven't been there myself, but we are thinking of booking Couples Swept Away for our honeymoon. My mom and her fiance have been to Couples resorts several times and they love it there. Seriously, it seems like they are at Couples every other month. They are in their 60s, but from their stories there seem to be a lot of young (20s and 30s) honeymooning couples there. I think it is a mix of Americans and Europeans. You certainly would not be the only Americans there if that is something that concerns you. Try not to stress about it too much. Sure, you only get one honeymoon, but you'll be so high off your wedding, you'd probably be happy in a cardboard box. Any place you choose will be a great vacation if you make it so. Don't put too much pressure on yourselves to try and make it "perfect" (no such thing). Good luck.
  • We are going to Couples Tower Isles in 28 days!!!! We looked at Sandals and Couples and in the end we decided on Couples. Sandals is more commercial and they have less things included. Not sure what message board you were looking at, but there are a lot of people from the US that go there. Couples has more stars and better ratings. When I asked the question between sandals and couples the responses I got were Couples hands down. I can let you know how it is in a month!

  • We'll be there March 28th through April 4th
  • Our HM was at Couples Swept Away and it was AMAZING!! My married Bio there is a link to my HM bio. You will NOT be dissapointed. My hubby and I can't wait to go back!
  • My bestfriend and her husband have been twice and LOVE Couples Resorts. They are kinda picky and have nothing negative to say about the resort. They always go to "Swept Away" I think it is.... I hope this helps.
  • I just got back from Couples Swept Away and loved it.  It is the largest of the Couples resorts, but it's not HUGE.  The food was good, but not great.  Def try Sea Grapes on the beach.  They are redoing part of the resort (as of Sept 9), including one of the restaurants.  Not sure when it will be done.  Tons of water activities are included: kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing, hobey cat (?-looked like a little sailboat), catamaran "booze cruise", etc. Piano bar at night is fun depending on the crowd. Staff is nice.  We stayed in the biggest room-overlooking the pool and ocean in the Great House.  It was near everything. Our private dinner on the beach (extra cost) was our best meal and they gave us spa credits and gift shop credits, which was good for spoiling ourselves.   One word of advice, bring conditioner.  There is none at the resort (maybe some for a charge at the spa).  The products in the room are not great, but they are passable.  My hair, however, was in need of some TLC after all the salt, sun and chlorine.  HTH.

  • we HMed at Couples Negril and had a fabulous, wonderful, and amazing time. We also worked with Nancy Finn and she is a godsend.
  • I'm so happy to see everyone enjoyed Couples! My Fi and I booked Couples Swept Away for 7 nights in April. We went through Nancy as well, and she has been WONDERFUL. Thanks to everyone who recommended her.
