Photographer and Custom Wedding Bands

We are getting married next May, but are having a few issues with these two things and I was wondering if anyone could help!First is the ring situation.  My engagement ring is amazing.  I love it.  But, it's supposed to be a "stand alone" ring, and I would like to put a band with it.  The only problem is that it's not shaped to accommodate a band with it so I'm looking to get a custom band made.  We've found one that will "work" for the time being for $250 if all else fails, but I'm looking for somewhere that would make me the same ring but mold it to fit with my engagement ring.  So far, I've only found places that will do it for $1200-$1300 and that just seems ridiculous to me, as my engagement ring was barely more than that!  Does anyone know anywhere that may possibly do it cheaper? Also, we are having a bit of trouble with a photographer.  I've seen the photography threads on here, but we are running on a budget.  I love the photojournalistic style, and am looking for someone who could do a good job on about $1500.  Any suggestions?Any help would be very, very, very appreciated!!  Thanks!

Geri Ciulla was our photographer and we loved her! We haven't gotten our picts back yet--it's only been a few weeks, but she was absolutely wonderful to work with! She enjoys shooting photojournalist style mostly, but will get the family portraits you need too.  Plus, she's under your budget! I vote for Geri!!

For photographers, you should look into robert hogan, lucky clover, erika rice, and innovatory. These are the ones I am currently looking into for my wedding, and they are all great and in your price range. HTH!

I had the same issue with my ring. It is a circle diamond with smaller diamonds around that. We had the same problem with getting custom wedding rings made to go around the top and bottom. (Our quote was $4500!) We tried to make it cheaper by going with white gold as opposed to platinum (which is what my engagement ring is). I ended up choosing to wear my engagement ring on the right hand and my wedding ring on the left. The wedding ring I got is three rows of smaller diamonds which compliments the engagement ring. Someday, maybe for an anniversary, I'll get the custom rings made and switch the hands I wear the rings on. Sorry to not be of much help...but, I understand your problem!!

I'm afraid this may not be any help because I can't remember the person's name, but I was at the bridal show at Anderson Twp Center in August, and there was a jeweler there that did custom work--I think his name was James or Jamie.  I'm pretty sure he's tied into the Madison bridal stores.  You could try getting a list of vendors from either the Twp Center, or calling the Madison, and maybe have some luck finding him and seeing what kind of a price quote he'd come up with. Most jewelers don't recommend mixing white gold with platinum, BTW, as they look and wear differently.

Have you checked out Paolo in the gas light?  He appraised my e-ring, and we originally were looking at him to design our wedding bands until I found a vintage band in NYC that I fell in love with.  http://www.paolousa.com/ To be honest, though, unless you're just getting a standard circle band, $1200 - $1300 for a custom made band (particularly if it's platinum) is very fair.As for the not mixing white and platinum, while we'll be switching out by e-band setting for platinum next year (white gold e-ring, platinum wedding, and while they do wear differently, it's nothing that isn't easily fixed.  You can easily re-plate white gold if it starts to yellow, and you can easily polish platinum to make it shiny again.  FWIW, jewelers tell you that because they'd rather you just go all platinum so they can make more money. ;)

For a budget friendly photographer, I have found a few that would be in your price range including Erika Rice, Lowry and Ron Wood.  I actually just booked Joe Porter with Innovatory Photography.  He loves the photojournalistic approach and is still very new to the wedding industry so I got a GREAT deal...well under $1000!Good luck!

Innovatory Photography is doing mine for $750. You can look at their website: innovatoryphotography.com.As for the ring, I'm not sure. Do you have any antique pieces in your family that could be reshaped?

Ditto Geri Ciulla for photography.  You also might want to check out Tracy Doyle photography.  Both also shoot for Steve Lyons Photography (or at least used to).
