36 days and still...

no pro pics...My photographer sent us an email saying that her MIL died last week so there will be a delay in getting our pictures.I'm trying not to pull out the b*tchy bride side and not email her back and say, "Well, since she's already dead-there's not much else you can do for her. You can honor our contract and give me my d*mn pictures that you've had a month to do!"What is the correct protocol for this situation?

what did your contract say with regards to getting the proofs back from your photog??...did she state a timeline for the proofs, your selection of the pics, and estimated date of delivery??...I've noticed alot of brides didn't receive notification of their proofs until 45 to 60 days after the event...not saying this is common place but just to give you a sense of what others have encountered...considering the situation of your photog (i.e. - MIL just past), I would not pull out the bridezilla card until I've reviewed our signed contract...HTH!  ;)

Logically-I guess I know this...it's just that with so many things that f'ed up my wedding I was looking forward to at least having good pictures. I'll suck it up. Thanks for your reply though!

Sorry you have to wait on your pics. We got married on the same date and I just got my pro pics last week. I looked at our contract and it actually said 6-8 weeks so our photog was actually ahead of schedule even though it seemed like it took forever. Take a deep breath. I'm sure the pics will be worth the wait. Our family and friends did a great job at taking pics and they actually got some of the same shots our photog did. In fact, they got some shots she didn't. I hope you get your pics soon.

You cracked me up! She's already dead. Whew!! Well I would feel the same what your dead MIL got to do with me? I guess the best thing is to give her another week and then be like uh I'm sorry this is a tough time but it's been over a month. I would mention the contract and maybe suggest a price break (if you haven't sent the final check) for your patience. I think you have to be diplomatic you want your pics but you don't want her to do a crappy job if you're paying for touch ups. But I would start applying some pressure to her.

I agree with Alf,  check your contract first before pulling the Bridezilla card.. My photog was upfront and letting me know he typically takes 6-8 weeks to give couples their photos. I'm okay with that now that I know what not to expect and that is my photos in 30 days. However, he does offer a slideshow like a couple wks after..

I used Sharon Wheaton from Alternative Life Photography. She is great-our e pics were wonderful and everyone loved her at the wedding. 2 weeks ago she did send us a slideshow of the unedited pictures and they were already looking good so it has us even more excited to get the edited photos. If you want her contact info, I will give it to you. Despite my delay in pics, I highly recommend her to future brides.
