Question Regrading Braids....opinion

I am going to get braids for my destination wedding so I won't end up looking like Ms. Celie when I get to Jamaica. I had planned on having it done next Saturday on the 19th. My wedding is October 10th and we leave on the 8th. I also want to leave them in until after our AHR October 31st. In your opinion am I getting it braided too early? I sleep with a scarf everynight so my hair is always tied up. Plus I was concerned about getting it done the weekend before we leave beause I wanted a half of half down style and I'm slightly tenderheaded. I don't know if I would want them pulling my hair up a few days after I get it done. LOL Other than October 3rd the 19th is the only weekend I have to get it done. Plus I want to spend the 3rd packing and preparing for the wedding. What do you think?

Hi:  I think you are getting them done to early.  I used to wear braids when I was in school.  You know how the braids start fizzing up after a couple weeks.  And you probably will swin in Jamaica.  And you want to look SUPER FRESH on your wedding day.   So I would get them done at the every earliest one week before.YEAY!!! Destination Bride!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, that's too soon to get your braids (that's almost a month before your DW)...but if you are tender-headed, go ahead and get them done but inquire from your braider if she could so some retouches to the edges so that your look is still polished...that's what I did when we went to Nassau, because of my schedule I had to get my micros done about 4 wks before we went on our trip but the week before I went back to my braider and had her redo the edges all around my head and looked great!!...I was able to still look fly and rock my up and down do's while on vacay without them looking fuzzy and jacked up...HTH!!  OMG i cannot belowe we are talking about your upcoming wedding like this, it seems as though it was only yesterday when you were trying to decide on the dates and how to plan the AHR!!  ;)

ALF hit it on the head! I am a braid wearer also, and after two weeks the freshness is just about gone. Even if you wrap it up. I say if you have to get them that early, get the edges redone. GL! Your day is coming so fast!

I think your are getting them done too early also. I think the 3rd is the best date because the braids will still be "fresh". Sometimes beauty is pain.

Kimmie you sound like my aunt. She used to braid so tight you had to take a Tylenol 12 afterwards. She used to say girl Beauty comes with Pain. LOL I think she's the one that made me tender headed. Okay I am going to call my hairdresser tomorrow and suggest that if I get them done then I get them retouched that weekend, or I may just wait until the 3rd and suffer. LOL Thanks ladies. And yes it's coming fast, 28 days.

I think you are getting them done too early as well.  I got mine done a week before the wedding and they were sorta loose by the next saturday for the wedding.  They might get frizzy even with a scarf, and if you keep them in until the reception you may only need to get an edge up.  HTH

I vote that you wait and get them done on the 3rd and thats come from someone who is tender headed. The last time I got micros it wasn't too bad and I put them up the same day....sometimes you just have to suffer when beauty call...LOL...you'll be fine though. Don't worry!!!!

I agree with the other ladies. It's a little too early. I would wait until the 3rd. When I used to wear braids mine would start to look a little rough about 4 weeks in. Do you have an alternative for your AHR? After a week in Jamaica your braids might start to get frizzy if you swim a lot.

Yeah, if I do start to look jacked I have 2 weeks until my at home reception to rectify the situation. LOL
