Re: PIP your pets

  • Laur-Gabriel is 34 pounds.  He is pretty big compared to other puggles I have seen.  I got him at 8 weeks and they told me he would be 15-20 pounds.  Here is a pic of his whole body.

  • Thank you for sharing.  Love the costume by the way.  I put a bumblebee one on mine last year and she hated it... it lasted about five minutes!

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: PIP your pets : Thanks for adopting from a shelter :) Sometimes it does take shelters/rescues a while to connect with potential adopters because they are mostly run by volunteers, are short staffed, etc.  Hopefully you will get your kitty tonight and your patience will have paid off :)

Wouldn't have it any other way :)

And I know just how hard those volunteers work--my MIL spends most of her time working at her town's no-kill shelter.
  • There are a lot of cats named Chloe.... lol

This is Whitey (FI named him. Not very creative.) and this is how he sleeps pretty much always. Well, until he falls off...

And this is Squishy. She's fat.

Well you can always do what I did.......we found ours in the bushes in the pouring rain. He was so little, now he's a big spoiled brat.

So did you already pick the animal you want or are you just going  to find it?
If they are that shifty, maybe you can look at Petsmart, and cicumvent the process.

  • Boopie is adorable!

We adopted Gidge from a shelter and Morgan was a rescue.  I've never gotten animals any other way other than those 2 methods.

Thanks! I'm sort of in love with her. Boopie isn't her real name, but my dad once said she looked like a Boopie, so it stuck.
  • This is the cutest thread ever :)

This is our family dog Bubba back home on the farm.  He's half lab, half chow.  Monster :)

Well, we'd like to take a pair of littermates who need to go home together. The shelter was actually really excited to hear that we were looking for two, because it can be hard to adopt out pairs. But we're going to meet all of the kittens they have right now and play and see what their personalities are like, to be sure.

I don't want to get too attached to a particular animal again, in case it doesn't work out. I had my heart set on meeting a little guy named Havoc the other day, only to find he'd been adopted out already. I'm glad he has a home, but I straight up bawled when I found out we wouldn't get to take him. So no more of that.

Our local Petsmart actually doesn't do adoptions themselves--they host adoption hours with local shelters. It was actually those adoption hours that kept getting fouled up. The folks at Petsmart must think we're crazy by now.

And re: teacup beagles, whoever the girl was talking about them said her friend paid a huge amount of money for it.  It's a mix between a regular beagle and some sort of small terrier!!  A mutt!  Not there is anything wrong with mutts, but there is no need to pay a large sum for them when there are thousands of mutts in rescues/shelters.  Also, the poster was saying that he beagle was only 15 pounds and most beagles are 30-40 pounds.   Ummm, no beagle should weigh 40 pounds! I dog-sit a beagle that weighs 30 pounds and is considered overwight.  Myfull grown beagle is 22 pounds, and is at her healthy weight. Anyway, sorry, I work with a beagle rescue if you haven't picked up on that yet.

Aww wow that's sad. We adopted Bella, my maltese from a rescue group who had just taken in all the dogs/puppes from a puppy mill in the area when it was shut down as there were no room in the shelter, and adopted Chloe our cat from a shelter.

Bella was the runt of her litter, and her mother was very small. She's grown now and is only 6 pounds, but I would never consider her or any other dog a teacup. And that article is totally right, she's had lots of health problems her whole life, but I love her regardless. The lady at the rescue said the puppy mill specialized in "teacup malteses"

Jersey Anne dressed up as Cinderella this past Halloween

Kaylee Belle was supposed to be Tinkerbell but she was too small for all of the costumes.  Instead my little weiner dog is dressed as a hotdog.

  • My pride and joy: Tebow my pit/boxer!  We got Tebow about 11 months ago from a shelter, literally 3 days after we moved in to our house lol.  Tebow was not treated very well at his first home and had severe mange, nearly his whole body was scabbed.  The shelter rehabbed him back, and he was ready to be adopted.  Unfortunately he was at the shelter for 3 months before we got him!  We actually saw puppies before we met tebow, and although they were cute, there was something about him that made us fall in love :)  Now let me AW:
