Honeymoon review part 2- San Fran

After 4 days in Napa we drove over the Golden Gate bridge in a lot of fog for 2 nights in San Fran... Fairmont Heritage Place at Ghiradelli Square: Gorgeous, modern rooms- actually city homes! They sell these as residences as well. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath palace- way more space than we needed. 3 flat screens, full kitchen with wine fridge and table for 8, warming drawer and more, gas fireplace, Bosch washer dryer, exdosed brick walls, huge windows, etc. Incredible terraces with fire pits and great bay and Alcatraz views. An ok continental breakfast. They also had a wine/cheese thing we didn't catch. On the flip side- our room location was poor -directly above main entrance on busy street corner with lousy view. We were very much reminded check in was not until 4 pm when we arrived at 1 pm and that they would call our cell when room was ready. At 4:05 we grew impatient and went to front to hear that the room wasn't quite ready, which I quickly squelched with, "it's after 4" and then they said it just finished getting ready- I think they stuck us in that worse location then- darn it! Staff can be very stuffy. Restaurants- Soo wanted to try The House for Asian food in North beach- Grant near Columbus but it was late and line out the door so we meanderd up about three doors to this King of Thai place- -not so good. Had great chowder at the Mermaid in Argenaut Hotel in Fishermans Wharf. Had good Italian in North Beach- not sure the name of the place but on a corner that comes to a point on Columbus where it crosses with the street with Club Fugazi (where they do the show Beach Blanket Babylon, which I saw on a previous visit and higly recommend, but didn't think it would be FI's thing). Had incredible Italian pastries from a bakery directly across the street. Had lousy sandwiches at O'Tierneys Irish Pub a block from Ghiradelli Square. Last day had a decadent lunch consistening of a Ghiradelli peanut butter hot fudge sundae! Felt sick afterwards but it was yummy going down. Also did wine tastings at the two wineries on ghiradelli square. The staff was rude at Cellar 360. Shared a delicius cheesesteak at Anchor Brewing at San Fran airport and enjoyed their Summer Brew, Tourist stuff- Chocolate Festival was going on and so not worth it- $20 for 15 -not too- exciting tastings and long lines- we skipped it and watched from above at the hotel terrace. Took FI to Fishermans Wharf because you have to see it once- and then not again! I love the street vendors in front of Ghiradelli Square- there is some junk but a handful of real gems! We took fabulous cable car ride to Union Square and then walked and shopped through China town and North Beach. Got a great footbath and massage/reflexology in Chinatown. I'll be back soon with wedding vendor reviews!
