Day of Coordinator?

A bride on my October 2010 board just mentioned hiring a "DOC"...has anyone here hired or used one, if so who, and if you have a review that would be great! I didn't even think of using one until now...but I have been stressing about the thought of all those little things getting done and making sure things come together the day of...I just wouldn't want to spend a ton of money on one. TIA :-)

    Do you have a coordinator at your venue?  Between our catering manager and the venue coordinator, a DOC would have been bored to tears at my wedding!

    i agree with Lucy 100%!!! i was thinking of hiring one and i am SO GLAD i didnt. between my caterer and the manager at my venue, everything was taken care of to a T. definitely check with your venue first!

    I just got married last week and had a fantastic DOC! My venue coordinator was sketchy up until the day of, so I VERY much appreciated my DOC. Email me if you want   stephanie dot gresko at gmail dot com

    I agree with Stephy - I used a DOC and she was wonderful. Originally wasn't sure she would be "needed" but my venue also did some last minute "switchs" and I was calm ONLY because I had her. Feel free to email me laurenandrews415 at gmail dot com

    Danielle - you have a seperate one in addition to the maitre d or whomever is assigned at AquaTurf? Are you declining the one assigned by AT for your wedding day? Just curious about all that. My friend is acting as my wedding planner helping out with advice / putting her day-job event planning skills to use when I need guidance but I want her to enjoy the actual wedding as a guest and not a "point of contact" so I'm glad the AquaTurf offers up someone to be assigned specifically to my day.

    I am actually not using a DOC...but the recommendation I sent to everyone is someone I know many girls on the board have used and is fantastic!

    I do agree with pps that having a coordinator at the venue can kinda negate having a DOC, but if you are having your ceremony at a separate site your personal DOC can be oh so helpful. I did shop around with some great advise from other knotties, but just couldn't justify the prices I was getting. (Ballpark of 1200-1700) I am/will be 98% prepared on that day and stictly needed just rehearsal walk-through and day of. I luckily found someone who gave me a price of 1/4 of the original quotes. Like I said, I'll have everything done, I just don't want family/WP to have to run around. Or worse, me keeping an eye on the clock all night making sure everything is taken care of. Then again, I have control-issues ;)!
