Wedding Funk.

I have been in a total wedding funk for about a month now, and I feel like it's time to kick myself out of it.  Part of the reason I haven't been doing any wedding stuff is because we've been trying to plan the honeymoon, but that is going nowhere fast so I feel like I've been at a standstill for forever. I'm 7 months and some change away and I feel like there's nothing I can do right now. I've got all my vendors figured out, I've ordered my dress, STDs have been sent. I started doing OOT bags, but I don't want to do too much for those until I have a final head count. Any ideas of what I can work on to kick me into wedding gear again?

Re: Wedding Funk.

  • you could start working on invites?
  • I am right there with you date twin. That was part of the reason I was not on here much for a few weeks. Let's hope we both get out of it.

  • Are you making centerpieces? What about favors, if they are not ediable.
  • I'm in the same boat, sort of.  I've been working on all kinds of fun little projects. -table numbers -picture garland for welcome/rehearsal dinner -collecting wedding pictures of married parents, gparents etc for a special tribute to them. -Door hangers -Photo Share cards Check out my bio for some other stuff!
  • I think this feeling is pretty common when you're 6-8 months out.  You have all the big stuff done and most of the small stuff needs a head count first.  What I've started to do is make a mock-up of everything.  I'm working on making just one centerpiece, and I'll get the rest with the headcount.  Same for OOT bags, favors, etc.  Could you maybe start designing/ordering your Mrs. undergarments or other accessories? Now that I'm just under 6 months I'm working on my invitations and it's feeling like things are starting to pick up again.I know it feels like an unproductive time, but even baby steps will help cut down the to-do list!  :)

  • I felt the same way at 7 months.  Maybe it's the 7 month itch, LOL.  I think invites is a good one to work on.
  • I was planning up a storm the first few months and now the last few months of our engagment.  But was in a funk in the middle.  Didn't really do much wedding related other than hang out here with you girls :)How about working on your playlist?  That took me a while, but was fun!
  • Like Mrs.McC I felt the same way around the 6/7 month marks. I think you just need to ride it out, the funk will end because it has to eventually! lol. That may not sound very encouraging, but maybe this is a good time to focus on other things than the wedding? Like just enjoying each others company, doing things you just like doing, because at some point you won't have time for those things. I'm trying to enjoy my time right now because once November hits I will be all wedding all the time. There are a bunch of things I still have to do, I just have to wait for our RSVP's to be in so I can get a head-count.So... just try and go with it, don't force anything. As soon as you start making projects to fill your time, something big will happen. I swear that's how it always works for me, haha. You will be crazy-busy soon enough! :)
  • I'm thinking you need some DIY stuff like those tissue paper pomanders, that will take a while. You can make me some ;)
