Are these totally trashy?

I'm seriously considering buying these for my reception, as I know my 4 inch heels will be killing me but I don't want to completely ruin the bottom of my dress.  I don't think anyone would be able to see them but are they still just too trashy in principle?  Sorry for not making the link clicky.http://www.daisy-days.com/white-high-wedge-flip-flop-sequins-crystals.html

Re: Are these totally trashy?

  • I'm anti-flip flop, so I probably shouldn't weigh in.
  • Stage I wear flip flops every day.  I just wasn't sure about the super elevated heel and the rhinestone.
  • Eh, I'm not a fan (I'm ridiculously clumsy in platforms and would probably break my ankle). But like you said no one will see them... so who would care?

  • Why would you think they're trashy?  No I don't think they're trashy at all, especially for just the reception and since no one will likely see them anyway.

  • I know people have different opinions about this, but yeah, flip flops with a gown ... trashy. Why not just buy a pair of heels that's comfortable to begin with?
  • I am not a fan of wedged flip flops. It reminds me of everyone wearing those in high school.

  • I don't think they are trashy, really who is going to see your feet?
  • I don't think their trashy at all.  Super casual?  Yes.  Which makes them perfect for the reception. That does seem to be a ridonkulous price for flip-flops, though, but I could be alone on that one.
  • Can you walk in wedge flip flops?  I think I'd trip and break an ankle.

  • If you have to wear 4 inch heels for your dress not to get ruined, I would suggest a seamstress.

  • I ordered something similar to wear. While I agree with others, wedge flip flops are ugly, no one will see them and I ordered a wedge in the same height as my heels so the dress hem would work out correctly. I think it makes sense.
  • Trashy or not, it doesn't matter since no one will see them. All that matters is you're comfortable and can dance in them. I switched into old navy flip flops for the reception. Uber trashy, but no one saw them.

  • I bought a pair of wedge flip flops that are really comfortable to change into.  They are the same height as my heels, so I won't have to worry about the different lenghts.  Clearly I see nothing wrong with your plan.

  • Tide, I ordered 4 inch heels for the ceremony since FI is so much taller than me.  I'm hoping they will be reasonably comfortable but since I never wear heels I want to at least have a plan B if I am miserable - if I go barefoot I'm sure I will trip over the extra material.  I wear flip flops with a slight heel (maybe 1.5 inches) so I don't think I will trip in them.  I think I'm going to go ahead and order them and just return them if they are ugly or seem unsteady in person.  Thanks everyone!
  • Platform heel flip flops?  I don't want to say they're trashy, but they definitely aren't something I would expect  to see an adult wearing.  That's more high school teenager territory, me thinks.  I think they look really cheap too.

  • White platform flip-flops are not trashy in principle, they are trashy in reality.

  • You never, ever wear heels?  I am worried for your poor feet. If you seriously never wear heels and youre going to go from that to four inch heels, you are going to be in some serious pain.  I can't even wear four inch heels for longer than anhour or so and I wear two and three inch heels basically every day.  Oh, feet.

  • You are a braver woman than I...  4" heels = tide w/ a broken ankle.  Just try them on an make sure you can walk in them.  In a dress.

In a dress.Stupid may be a better word than brave, we'll have to see.  I have worn them around my apartment for like half an hour at a time and they seem sturdy and not painful.  I will take them to my dress fitting too, the bottom of the dress is wide though so I don't think it will get caught on them if it is hemmed correctly.
  • I love them personally.  Those are way better than the flip flops I threw on for my reception.  They were just these gray-silver ones from Old Navy with a little bit of a platform, but nobody could see them anyway.  Yours are actually cute.
  • It's likely to be the ANGLE that your foot is at. And these won't help that problem.Hmm this is a good point.  I wonder if there is any way my alterations person can do my bustle in such a way that it will raise the hem?  Is that even possible?
  • I wear heels so frequently that when I wear flats my feet are actually sore. I would think that going from not wearing them to wearing them all day will put a hurt on your feet.

  • Kati, what about something more like these...I am getting married on the beach and I am wearing wedged sandals, but they are a little nicer then just flip flops.http://www.advantagebridal.com/cuweflflsawi.html
  • I beg you to reconsider.  Four inch heels are not for the faint of heart, foot wise.  Your foot just isn't used to that kind of tourture and being in that position.  Please at the very least tell me it isn't a cheap shoe.  If it is, abandon this plan right now.  At least with a higher quality shoe, there is better support built in to shield the foot.  I'd hate to see you in pain on your wedding day.  Serious foot pain can absolutely ruin a mood.  It's just a headache that can completely be avoided.  Maybe consider a 2 1/2 inch heel?  Something a little bit more do-able for heel virgin feet?

  • The bustle wouldn't be able to raise the hem (or it only would in the back, and that would look silly), but you should be able to get it hemmed to whatever length you need (should you decide to go with a lower heel).  Usually the hem is just taken from the bottom, but if there is a lot of detailing on the bottom of the dress, it can be brought up from the waist.

  • There is a serious difference between 3" heels and 4+" heels.Something about the angle of your feel make the latter really difficult to wear, to the point where the bones in my feet hurt.Definitely experiment with different kinds of heel heights before your wedding and figure out what your heel tolerance is. I'm guessing everone is different. Since I hurt my knees last year 3" is my absolute limit (I used to wear 4" on special occasions) and 2"-2 1/2" is my go-to height for a regular workday.
  • DON'T DO IT. Those wedge flip flops are so uncomfortable! Its like walking on a stone all night with no cushion. TRUST ME. I just had to wear a pair of these for a friend's wedding. NOT FUN, I kicked them off as soon as we started dancing, and the wedge was half that size. Again I repeat, DON'T DO IT.
  • I don't know if you can see them in my sig pic, but I had 3.5" flip flops. They were so padded and comfy, so it was nice to take off my 5" heels and put these on. I was going to do the wedge but your foot is still on a huge angle that it wouldn't be very comfortable.
