Mexico Weddding in English?

Wondering if you can help. We are planning to get married somewhere along the Mayan Riviera November 2010.From all of the online research I've been doing it seems as though the ceremonies are ALWAYS in Spanish, but after talking to people that have gotten married there and have attended weddings there they say that everything was in English. Any comments? Also, we are thinking about the Palladium resorts, any thoughts on that?

Re: Mexico Weddding in English?

  • Hello! We are getting married in Cozumel, May 2011. It's off the coast of the Riviera. Since getting an actual legal marriage license through MX is such a pain, i.e. blood work, all the paper work, the amount of time that you must be there before hand, etc. We have opted to just go to JOP before hand, maybe a week, maybe sooner, and get married without saying our vows and not tell anyone when we go. Most people already know that is what we are doing. We are also having our good friend be the officiant :) GL!!!

  • We are getting married at on of the Palace Resorts in Cancun and in all of the paperwork it says that all ceremonies are performed in Spanish but when my travel agent spoke with someone at the resort and I spoke with my wedding coordinator, they said the ceremony is in English. So I would just confirm with the resorts that you are thinking of going to.

  • I don't think it should be a problem at all!  I'm sure a lot of couples request this.  We brought our pastor, so we didn't have a problem.  You might want to post this again on the North Dakota Nesties board (that's where all us former DW brides hang out) and ask them - there's A LOT of us that got married in Mexico.
