Did your DJ negotiate on price?

Our reception is November 14th, and kind of last-minute we're thinking about adding a DJ.  My parents have offered to pay for it, so I'm trying to even more frugal with their money than I am with mine  :)Anyway, I've been quoted prices by a couple recommended DJs (Brian Childs and Maize Music), and wondered how set in stone those prices are... was anyone able to negotiate with their DJ?  I had no trouble asking our reception venue to lower the price or throw in extras, but for some reason, it's harder to think about doing with a DJ.Also, I have checked earlier posts for recommendations, but if anyone wants to thow names out there, I'd appreciate it!  And now, you can even include ones you don't like.  I'm not from Cincinnati so I have no familiarity with DJs here, so any help is welcome!

We are using Brad with Queen City DJ's.  We actually booked with him when he was with Quality Sounds, but he has since left to start up his own company and we wanted to stay with him.I am not sure how much dj's are willing to negotiate, but you might have a little bit more room for negatiations if they aren't booked yet since it is so close to your wedding.www.queencitydjs.com

We are using Jeff Aubrey and he owns Jester Amusements. He is VERY reasonable. He just did a big thing for the fireworks! He is easy going and very easy to deal with. Give him a call at 859-653-4555. Tell him Marci sent ya ;)

We spoke w/ a few different DJ's and ultimately decided on VP DJ's based on a few previous Knottie recs.  Their prices were so good that we didn't feel the need to really negotiate with them at all.  GL!

I'd imagine that ANY price can be negotiated.  Whether or not the vendor chooses to come down or not is up to them.  If they feel they charge a minimal amount and can stay booked (aren't hurting for work), they probably won't budge.  Brian Childs is LOW though.  He was at least $300 cheaper than Maize when I looked into DJs.

Brian Childs and Maize quoted me the same price, actually (which was the same price as DJ Toad's cheapest package with one of his newer DJs).  Nemar Maize isn't available the day of my wedding, though, and one review I read recommended him in particular.  VP DJs is $100-150 less than Brian and Maize. It's tough to make a decision when I haven't had any experience with any of them.

Try looking into DJ Victim. I haven't yet, but a few people on here gave him good reviews. They also said don't be scared off by his club persona which is on his web site--he will show up in a suit. GL!
