Individual Cakes or One big cake??

I was wondering if anyone is thinking or has been to a wedding where they have used individual cakes for the centerpieces?  If so, what were your thoughts?  Recommend or not and why? Thanks!

    I saw a couple do it on the tv show "rich bride poor bride" and they looked amazing!  They're a nice favour that guests will keep, and they looked cool in their little pyramid on the table. Never seen them in real life though :(

    I was thinking of doing something similar to this expect we would have cupcakes for each individual that they could deck out  with their favorite toppings and sprinkles. But then I started thinking that its not worth spending the money to have individual cakes made for the price. But that's just me.  Good Luck!

    I think it is a great idea.  I personally would not put it as a centerpiece.  Espically because you are on an island.  The climate plays a factor.  I would have them served as a desert.  You know what candlebeyer the one thing I realize about having a destination wedding is that we do not have to do expensive centerpieces or none at all because we are already on a beautiful island.
