I wanted to send you a personal message to say I FEEL YOU on your dilemma.  I saw it yesterday but couldn't reply because of work.  I have a VERY similar vision.  I have been calling  our reception a 'cocktail party' to help lead my planning.  i want everyone to just DANCE! And it's outside as well.  Sometimes I have a hard time envisioning how it's all going to work.  One of the things that will have a big influence on whether it's all going to work is your audience.  I have a lot of older family members and don't think they will get the 'cocktail party' theme so I know they will need tables and chairs, but if the majority of your audience are friends or are around your age group I think it would be an AMAZING concept and you have nothing to worry about!Does your reception site have a site planner that you can do a walkthough with? You can go over your vision with them and they would probably know best how to set it up to meet your needs (they may even know someone who set it up the same way). Above all, dont second guess yourself! It's YOUR dream and you should be commended for attempting to do something different.  It's EASY to just do the norm.We can be planning buddies! As I find stuff that reminds me of a cocktail reception or happy hour reception I'll be sure to pass it along to yoU! Good Luck!

DD, you are the WOMAN! I would LOVE to be planning buddies. Our visions are very similar as are our audiences, too. Of the 90-100 people, probably 30-40 will be 45 and up; the rest 25-40. I keep sayingg "I want everyone to just DANCE," too. LOL! Check out my planning bio when you get a chance greenshaw.weebly.comThanks for the encouragement. You're right it's EASY to do the norm. And I commend you for stepping out of the box with you vision, too.

saw your planning bio! girl we have such a similar vision! our colors are various shades of green (including celadon! and sage and some others) with ivory and gold. And i'm not into flowers either but I love calalillies (just not sure how those would work for a bouquet so probably just stick with whtie flowers) And the video you showed is a lot like I want ours to be! FI wants to play the intro to the Godfather as the 'waiting music' before our ceremony as people walk in because he is a GODFATHER FANATIC. but the music is nice so I'm game.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfG8bb0xoOIAnd for the BM dresses this is the look I want my bridesmaids girls to have, but the Anna Elyse ones are so expensive so I am looking for knockoffs or something with a similar style http://annaelyse.com/collection/charming.asp(look at the swatches and it would be the pistachio color)YAY Planning buddies! I guess I could go ahead and do a planning bio lol... you have inspired me to organize my thoughts
