Packing wedding gown for travel????

What is the best way to pack your wedding gown for travel? I thought about hanging it in the closet on the plane, but I have heard that some airlines do not allow it.

    Most ppl I've talked to recommend carrying it on, and asking them to either put it in the closet, or just putting it in the overhead space. A friend put hers in the overhead compartment, folded over in half, and it was just fine. I'll probably do that as a backup if the closet isn't available. I'm planning to have my dress steamed when I get to Maui, so a few wrinkles will be ok.

    The bridal shop I bought my dress from as well as my cordinator out in Maui has suggested shipping it overnight. I'm going to do that, and it's gonna get sent to the shop that will steam it, so all I'll have to do is pick it up and put it on
