So, I stopped at Staples, and they can print my menu cards up for me, but I have to set them 4 to a page in word, then save it as a pdf...Now, I can figure most things out, but this has me stumpped... How do I make them 4 to a page and save as a pdf??

Wait a second. Your wedding isn't for 12+ months? Why in the world are you worried about printing up menus right now?

haha, you are correct, I'm just a think-ahead kinda gal... I don't even have my tasting for my reception till the end of the month. ... ... call me crazy, but I have nothing else to worry about so I thought I would just ask how to do it, so I know how when it's timeI am just going to take the size of regular paper, divide it into four, and that's the size they will be. So, I just need to know how to print them out that way on Word...

Since you have PLENTY of time, just design them in PowerPoint (use the 4 times the size that you want to print), save as a JPG and buy them from VistaPrint. You can get 250 postcards for around $30 including shipping, sometimes less if you watch the sales/codes/retailmenot.com . Trust me, mine came out AWESOME!

Ok, so what your saying is, if I want the font to print a size 12, use a font 4 times bigger? The only thing is, if I do it with Staples, they are only charging me $6 to print and cut them...

P.S. lol, I know I have PLENTY of time but like I said before, I was just bored without wedding stuff to do and thought I'd ask how you ladies would do them.The only major things I still have to book are transportation and floral, and since I am going to wait a year for mine and mom's checkbooks to clear up (haha), I thought this would be my side project in the mean time to think about!

I hope that wasn't an online quote you got, because I did that with my bach invites (for a bm that was oot), and they charge like $0.40 PER CUT PER SHEET in store.You want to make the size of the "slide" four times bigger, so the resolution is clear.Here's my menu card:[img]http://i34.tinypic.com/o042m1.jpg[/img]

That was a grainy copy, I made it four times bigger, and it took away that fuzzy quality because it saves everything at a much higher resolution.

Centre,Staples really screwed you if they wanted you to pay .40 per cut per sheet of paper. They have a laser cutter that will cut up to 100 sheets of cardstock at once (I know, because I used it). The cost is more per cut (like $1.99 per cut), but if you put four menus per sheet of paper (imo, ninjette, those menus are going to be too small, btw), the total cost would be $4.00 for up to 400 menus...Another quick tip - be nice to the Staples workers. I hardly paid for anything when I went to print and cut my personalized menus (major PIA) and my programs because I was nice to the workers. It pays to be nice to the little people (coming from the NYC attorney who used to be one of those "little people").

No, I went in-store and that is the price they gave me... The Staples in Western HIlls.... Hmmm. I'm not very good at powerpoint, maybe I can get help from my brother..... OR, Cincinnati State has a graphics dept, maybe I will see if there is a student who could show me how, or would like to make some extra money

Centre and Hr; thanks for your input, I think maybe I will see what I can come up with myself and if I can't do it then I will see what Cinti State's graphics dept charges, or use Vista Print... after thinking about it, hr, I think you are right, and that might be a tad too small.....

Oh, we didn't take the cards since they misquoted from the online quote. And we were very nice to them, we had other complaints like the file said it was compatible online, then it printed really weird when we got there and found out that it wasn't REALLY compatible. Just a big mess.

I made mine two per page in powerpoint. I saved it as a pdf and they printed them with no problem. Mine were only black and white, so it was pretty cheap (30 bucks for 200 menu cards). I did provide the paper so I could control what I was getting but they can cut all at once, they dont have to cut them one at a time. I used Anderson and Hyde Park and both were very helpful!

If you ever need to make anything into a PDF document, download PrimoPDF. It's free (google it) and it works like a printer, only you choose where you'll save your file.Also, I would recommend VistaPrint. And since you have a year before your ceremony, you should get an account with them and take advantage of FREE stuff. I ordered my save-the-dates from them. They were post-cards and I only had to pay to upload my personalized image and for shipping. Total, I got 150 of them for about $12. I think I may do the same thing if I decide to do menus. I don't need huge menus for my afternoon reception and I can design the cards for free on VistaPrint's site and then get them for free if I am patient and wait for the free offers (which I get all the time in my email!).
