NWR: Apple Picking

Hey Ladies, FI and I are planning on taking my 6 year old nieces apple picking on Sunday. Does anyone know any good places in Massachusetts or Northern RI to go? We are looking for a place that has either like a cornmaze or hayride too. TIA

    davis farmland in sterling has a great maze and there are some orchards around that area as well....berlin orchards and bolton orchards are the only other places i have been... they have hay rides as well

    Not sure how far you want to travel but Russell Farm in Ipswich has great apple picking and hayrides, and Marini's Farm (also in Ipswich) has the biggest, most awesome cornmaze, ever! http://www.russellorchardsma.com/Smolack Farm in North Andover has apple picking and hayrides, too.....it just gets SUPER packed on the weekends! I think FI and I are going to Russell Farm on Sunday!

    Def check out Smolak...I was there last year and they had tons of kids activities set up, along with pumpkin picking.  It looked like it was aimed at the 3-9 year old group.

    For adult apple picking, check out Nashoba Valley Winery.  I went a couple weeks ago and we did a wine tour/ tasting for $7 pp (they also have beer/liquor), apple picking and a barbeque lunch.  it ended up being like $30 per couple for everything and we got extra tastings. They also have what looked like a great restaurant that will make you a boxed lunch, but you need to call ahead.  http://www.nashobawinery.com/

    Don't go to Smolak Farms in North Andover. It used to be an awesome place, but now it is way too crowded and overpriced. I took my nine year old sister last week and spent over $60. It was $20 for the smallest bag to use to pick apples and $4 for each person to go on the five minute hayride, etc.  For comparison, last year it was $15 for the small bag to pick apples, they keep raising their prices.

    buywithme.com has a coupon for Smolak Farms today.  I've never been there, but if you are thinking of going, you should check it out.  It's 50% off apple picking and $15 for $35 worth of other stuff.
