I am angry at you brown...stupid color

sooo, FI & I went today to pick out tuxes at that bastion of all things evil Men's Wearhouse (they were very helpful & nice though so kudos to them) we looked at truffle vests and I started thinking hmm I wonder if these will match the truffle dresses that we got from david's bridal - so poor FI drove all the way back to our house to pick them up so I could compare (he's awesome like that) - he brings them back and it's the first time I've really looked at them and they aren't brown - they aren't even close to brown they are plum. I have a mini-emotional breakdown in the middle of mens wearhouse (I blame hormones), and we go to David's Bridal - where they told us that they were in fact truffle it was just the material that made them look different. David's bridal is offering to exchange them for different dresses - which is nice, I'm just really frustrated and had to vent. Although I hope my bridesmaids can agree on a freakin dress since this particular dress was the only one they liked when they originally tried them on. :( stupid truffle.

  • do the colors look nice beside each other, even if they don't exactly match?
  • I'm pretty sure men's wearhouse and david's bridal have matching colors.

  • They do have "matching" colors, but the type of fabric can drastically change the appearance of a color. I agree w/ pp. As long as they don't clash, I don't think it would be a big deal. I'm sure you probably wouldn't have even noticed if you didn't hold them side by side and "really look" at them

  • My FI said he noticed it when he took the dresses out of the closet, he was very confused as to where the purple came from in our wedding colors. It probably is the fabric but it's a HUGE difference, so we are going to suck it up and get new dresses. I try to look on the positive side which is we picked the dresses before we picked anything else now we can pick dresses more in the style of the wedding as a whole...or something. Plus maybe I can finally convince my bridesmaids that short skirts + winter +outside pictures = frostbite
  • I'm sure you've thought of this, but make sure you pick dresses where you like the color of the sample and choose the something in the same fabric.

  • Does the dress come in Mocha? It's a little lighter, but might work better.Good to know, because I was considering truffle. I might go with the berry, though, depending what it looks like in person.

  • Just do a traditional tux, I think matching vest/ dresses is promish.
  • it's not that they didn't match - I understand that browns come in different colors. the issue is that due to the fabric it isn't brown, it's purple - that's not even a remote shade of brown. I just wish the people at David's bridal would have mentioned that when we ordered the dress, since the person working there yesterday when we took them in said "yeah they do turn out kinda purple".
