have many set of dishes do you register for?

everyday chinaformal chinaand Holiday china?is this the norm???

Re: have many set of dishes do you register for?

  • Personally, I didn't register for any china.  I have three sets of dishes and didn't need anymore.  However, if you want china I wouldn't register for more than one set.  How often do you plan on using it?
  • I already have everday dishes.  And I have no room for Holiday so we just registered for Formal.
  • there is no norm. Register for what you want and need.We didn't register for any dishes. We've been living together for 5 years and already have a house. We already had everyday dishes & honestly I saw no point in registering for "formal" china.
  • we just registered for everyday dishes because we will never use china. I didn't want someone to pay a bunch of money for china that will sit in a cupboard
  • I registered for everyday dishes - enough for 16 places, or at least 16 dinner plates. I am doing Fiestawear in any color and so for bowls I did some rounds ones, some square ones, etc to mix it up. My mom started buying it for my birthday which is the day I got engaged so I've just registered for what I was eventually going to collect. I did not do any china or even crystal. I did all serving bowls from the Fiestawear. If I ever have family over, we do paper plates, there are too many too have a real plate, my cuboards would be all dishes LOL! I have 7 bros & sisters all older with grown children my age. There are 54 in my immediate family! I think most registries suggest 12?
  • We just registered for everyday dishes because ours are crappy. We didn't register for any china because it wouldn't get used. I think we registered for 12 settings of the everyday stuff.
  • I just think it depends on what you want, need and will use.  We won't register for any dishes because we already have our regular dishes (bought the whole set when we bought our house) and actually FI's grandma got us a set of really nice china at an estate sale.  It's an 8 piece set- I probably wouldn't have even asked for china, but she got us this anyways, so I guess we're all set.  In the entire year we've been in our house, our "china" has not been used once for anything!!!!
  • We nixed the formal china...we went with Fiestaware as well; 12 settings (6 different colors). We already got all of it from our first shower and I LOVE IT!!!
