Wedding shoes

Just wondering if anyone else is forgoing the "traditional" white wedding shoes? I am thinking of doing a bright colored shoe to match my wedding color. Thanks:)

Re: Wedding shoes

  • Yeppers...going with red! Then everyone teased me that I'd look like Dorothy...so I switched from the original style to red sandals with some pretty crystals on them...very nice! For the reception...me, FI, and our kids are all getting a pair of Toms Shoes (the ones that when you buy a pair they donate a pair to a child overseas) for the reception...mine again will be red!

  • That's actually a pretty popular trend right now.
  • Most definitely.  I love shoes to be different and it seems silly to buy white shoes that I won't wear again.  Plus my dress is long!  Not sure what kind though. I'll look into those Tom shoes... what a great idea!
  • I am seriously thinking of doing the red myself to just pop my gown out, I am debating over this still over gold strappy sandals. I would so go with color shoes, yikes on the white shoes.
  • Thanks everyone! Now all I have to do is find the right pair! Ugh!!
  • I'm actually doing blue, which is not one of my wedding colors. I saw an adorable picture of a bride wearing blue (for her something blue, of course) and the groom wearing matching blue socks. She was lifting up her dress a bit and he was lifting up his pants to show them off. Too cute!

  • I have white flip flips with sparkly, silver straps.
  • lol! Flip flips.. I crack myself up sometimes.I meant flip FLOPS
  • oh , absolutley! I plan on a bright apple green with a big brooch on them! no stuffy plain ol' white here! plus, I would wear the green ones again
  • Picture in siggy!

  • I'm thinking of going red or emerald green--FI is a big Wizard of Oz fan and our theme is Old Hollywood, so it'd be fun to have fabulous red shoes I think.

  • I wore clover green ballet flats that matched the ribbon on the bridesmaid dresses.
  • Chest, do you have a picture? I'm looking for something similar and I'm not having much luck!
  • I got my Tom Shoes yesterday that I am wearing for the reception! But I went boring with the neutral color though. Still trying to decide on the shoes, but that siggy pic above with blue open toes are adorable!
  • I went with hot pink Louboutin's with a big bow on the toe. PIB. So happy I decided to forego tradition and go with my fave color!

  • I'm doing ivory Christian Louboutin's (my splurge!)! After the wedding, I'm going to dye them black so it'll hide any dirt & they'll be more practical to wear in the future. Ivory satin is just too hard to keep spotless. After the wedding, I'm going to wear  my shoes on every anniversary as a reminder of my special day. :o)
  • I am totally wearing silver shoes with bling on them! I will wear them over and over again for events after the wedding :)  Everyone is doing colored shoes, traditional bridal shoes are out! LOL Best of luck making a decision!
  • I wore hot pink shoes. Pictures are in my bio.

  • I'm doing Ivory Ballet Flats with lace on them- I wear ballet flats constantly and ivory is the only color I don't have, so I know i'll wear them again :) Also a plus, I found them for $29.99. Traditional wedding shoes are definitely not my style. I'd go with color if I wasn't so happy with my ballet flats!
  • I have a pair of gold heels for the ceremony and the beginning of our reception.  They're a light, pretty gold, so I'm hoping I might be able to wear them again.  After dinner I'm going to change into my ivory Birkenstocks: the most comfortable sandals ever.
  • I'm doing royal blue shoes to match one of our colors. They will also be my something blue!
  • I'm wearing weaved gold ballet flats with my renaissance dress :)
  • i got some silver ballerina slippers with beading. They are so comfortable! i will be so relaxed in my slippers and i will be strolling around the hotel in them the next day!

  • I am wearing orange and purple shoes to match my wedding colors and my bridal party are each wearing different color peep toe pumps.
  • Im doing fuschia strappy shoes, and instead of a french pedi, im going to do cotton candy pink, i think it will be cute. Colored shoes are so much more fun and unexpected than white shoes.
  • I'm wearing custom made Converse "Chucks".  My fiance got them made for me as an early wedding present.  (He ended up giving them to me early because I was going to order them and he already had!)  They are hot pink & black to match my wedding colors.  He thought chucks would be awesome for our "rock star" wedding!  I'm excited that I will be comfy all day.  I did buy hot pink and black satin heels for the ceremony, but they aren't very comfortable so I'm wearing the chucks the entire time now.

  • I know I am doing blue (it's on of my colors), but I haven't picked out the shoes yet.
  • Yes I am forgoing the 'traditional' white wedding shoes as well. I am going to wear a pair of the blue Manolo Blahnik's like what 'Carrie' wore in the Sex and the City movie. I am a shoe girl - and just as excited about wearing these as I am my dress!

  • Strappy silver Ralph Lauren heels. I didn't want an open toe (November wedding) but they are the most comfortable heels I've ever put on and I will wear them all the time after the wedding. I didn't know pretty shoes could be so comfy!
  • I am actually going to wear boots.  I was born and raised in Texas and always have my boots on so it is only right to wear a nice pair to the wedding!  Plus I can't wear heels because of a bad disc in my back! =)
