tax on dress?

This is probably a dumb question but are bridal gowns taxed at the state tax rate? Are they taxed at all?Thanks!

    Yes they are taxed because I think there is some kind of law that if its retil over lik $250 it can be taxed? I just remember that my dress was taxed too!

    Hi,Yes they are taxed and taxed at the 6.25% rate.  Even thought it is "clothes" it is taxed under the luxury tax which is anything over $175.  Correct me if I am wrong ladies, but the rule is if the item is say $200 you are only taxed on the $25 that is the difference since you are only taxed on the amount of each single item over $175 for the amount over.  HTH (and hope I have that correct!!!)

    I had to pay a luxury tax on my dress... but it was worth it!!
