Anyone getting married next fall? We are planning our wedding for next October but the way it has been extra cold already this year is making me nervous for next year. We are thinking about moving our date to the middle of September in hopes that the couple weeks will make a difference. I'm extremely nervous that I'm going to plan an outdoor or partially outdoor wedding and then it be in the 40's on the big day. What do you all think?

    We are getting married October 2 next year -- exactly 1 year today woo hoo -- and I am somewhat concerned about the colder weather.  But, when we got engaged in May, I couldn't find a date in September that both our church and our reception options were open.  So, that may be an issue for you (I am in Buffalo, not sure where you are planning the wedding).  But, I thought that as a BM gift I would get pashminas or something just in case it does get chilly during pics -- I don't want my girls to freeze. I am not worried about the GM or myself since I will be swimming in layers of heavy French taffeta.  I also think its nicer for guests if its a little cooler -- my fear was making them sit through a 45 minute Catholic mass in 80 degree heat and high humidity.  I think you take a chance planning any part of it outside because there is always a possibility of rain, even if its warm out.  So long as you have an indoor alternative I think you will be fine.

    I'm not a fall bride, but as you probably know, there is no way to acurrately predict the weather.  You may move up your wedding and then a freak early cold front will come through that weekend.  It could rain; it could even snow.  Plan your wedding for the day you want and have a plan B.   GL!

    I'm getting married October 3 of next year. I decided not to take the chance on fall weather in Northern Lake George, so we are having our ceremony and reception indoors and just doing pictures outside to take advantage of the foliage/weather. The weather in upstate NY is so unpredictable- I agree with PP, have a plan B.

    Yeah - its a blessing and curse here in upstate... we get all types of weather - whenever it wants to come! I would generally suggest just NOT planning an outdoor wedding for October. I would guess chances are alot stronger that it will be cold like it is todya than a freak warm front will come through... That being said I would say the same thing for spring brides as well - its snowed before in April and May!

    October 23!, 2010, yes 23! and my ceremony is outside.... I agree I am soooo scared.  But, I know someone who got married around that time last year and it was gorgeous!  And my FSIL and FBIL planned their wedding for the begining of April 2008, it was suppose to snow according to Farmers Almanac....it ended up being 80 degrees that day...so you never know.  We are crossing our fingers and hoping not to freak out too much.  Worse comes to worse, we will have to hold our ceremony inside our reception location with everyone at their tables :-( definetly not my idea of a good alternative, but at least we have one.  And, my plan is, as long as it isn't a blizzard or rain, they can tough out the cold for 30 minutes...I wanted the whole thing outside and I'm already not getting that...so hopefully people dress warm :-)!

    We are planning our wedding for early Oct 2010 in Stowe Vermont. It has been my dream to get married at the Trapp Family Lodge (Sound of Music) since I was a little girl and its actually going to happen. Being from upstate, ny we all know how gorgeous the leaves are this time of year. I find Vermont to be even more amazing. I dont care if its 40 degrees, we WILL have our 10 minute ceremony outside! Now, if it decides to snow thats another story...

    My wedding is October 16, 2010 and although I am not having an outdoor wedding, I am having my ceremony in the church I grew up in, I know that it will be a beautiful wedding- I'm not too worried because this past october there were a lot of crisp beautiful days on the weekends :) There's always a risk with an outdoor wedding but as long as you have a back up plan you will be good!
