Re: Dress shopping tomorrow...

  • I did not go by myself, but I only took one friend.  When I actually picked my dress I was alone. Good luck! I hope you find THE dress!

  • My advise is to take pictures.  I made my decision looking at pics of me in the dresses.  I don't know if I forgot what everything looked like or just didn't realize it at the time but it really helped me.

  • Good luck Meghan! My only advice is to make sure you eat and drink something tomorrow (a fainting girl can't try on dresses!) and have fun!!I think it would have been nice to go dress shopping once by myself.  It gets a little crazy with four friends in tow. :)

  • I tried on dresses by myself.  I was kind of nervous when I first got there, but then got caught up in "playing dress up" and had fun!The good thing about going alone is that you can really take your time looking through the racks, adjusting in the dressing room, twirling in front of the mirror.  You don't have to worry about anyone waiting on you.  The store ladies should be able to help you zip or corsett up!  Also, have her keep a list of the dresses that you like if you want to bring someone back to show them.Don't forget to bring your camera and a water bottle.Have fun!!!
  • Ditto everything PPs said.  I went with friends/mom/gma on my different trips but ended up buying when I was alone.  As much as I enjoyed shopping with my loved ones, I loved shopping by myself.  Have fun!  PS.  No where I went allowed me to take pictures.
  • If you're allowed- take pictures! I tried on soo many dresses that by the end they were all a blur. Then I went and looked at the pics a few days later and could really see what looked good and what didn't. Have fun!
  • I hope you have lots of fun.  But here are some words of caution:Always buy yourself time to think about a dress selection.  It's okay to wait 24 hours before signing the dotted line.  Remember to read over the contract to prevent them from adding any sly extras in there.  Try to get alterations included in the price. Also, if a store won't let you know the designer of a dress, I highly recommend not ordering it.  It's a shady practice to keep people from comparison shopping.  If your wedding is in 7 months, tell them that it is in 5 months so the dress gets to them on time.  It does not take months and months for a dress to be produced.
  • Good luck!! Let us know how it goes and if you can take pics, I'd love to see them.  I'm really nervous to try on dresses too. I'm the type of person that shops on her own too.  I just feel more productive when I shop on my own and I can focus on me. Have fun!
  • Take pictures! I went by myself a few time and dresses that I loved on...look horrible in the pics. and dresses that I didn't care for made me look good. Bring good underwear. Something supportive and smooth. I've made the mistake of trying dresses with black lace undies...not a good idea. And have fun!
  • Have a wonderful time, good luck!! Can't wait to see some pictures :)
  • Thanks for all the advice and support. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I know they have a no picture rule, but maybe I can sneak one on my iPhone. :)

  • Everyone pretty much covered it already!  Good luck!
  • Hello!I went by myself twice.  When I narrowed down my favorites, I brought a good friend with me to help me decide.  It was so much easier and less stressful that way.  During my second appointment, one bride had a 15 person entourage!  It was crazy!!!  It stressed me out!  I had people coming into my dressing room while I was putting on gowns... thinking it was the "other bride".  NOT FUN!Anyway, I ordered my dress Sept 12th and I'm leaving for Maui March 7th.  Have fun tomorrow!!
