DJ!

I know most ladies aren't on here during the weekend, but I wanted to make sure I asked this before I forgot. What percentage of your budget did you spend on your DJ?  I am looking into a few in the Palestine/Tyler area, and right now the average quote for 7 hours (reception & ceremony) is around $1000.  Is this reasonable?

That's pretty good, I originally budgeted 1500 for the DJ but just for 4 hours (reception only) But I ended up finding Melody from Melodies and Memories and is doing 4 hours plus lighting and wireless speakers for $900, most of the guys I talked to in dallas for 4 hours were 1500 up to 2000.

I got unlimited time (4+hrs) for $800 so that's pretty good.

My budget says 5% but we ended up spending $900 for the ceremony and reception, which was 6 hours.

$1000 is within the reasonable range, not outrageous at all. but you can often find people for less. In that area, it seems like you have to drive 30 miles to get anywhere, lol! We're in the DFW area, and used a guy out of McKinney. He charged 850 with no time limit. He set up by 5pm, and the reception went from about 5:45 to 10 pm. He provided lighting, and some candid photos of the reception. You'd probably have better luck looking for resources/vendors in the larger towns, like Tyler, Jacksonville, Palestine. You might even try Waco or Nacogdoches, both college towns.

See if you can contact the prom sponsor at one of the high schools.  They might be able to help you there.
