DRESS DILEMMA

I have tried on sooo many dresses and have gone everywhere, but the "one" is a Rivini that costs $5800. IS THIS TOO MUCH FOR the "one"? What do you guys think? I mean I know I can come up with the money somewhere it's not an absolute "no," but is this not normal in the dress world? I am feeling guilty, but I am in love.

    I think it's a lot of money but it's all relative. If you can swing it, go for it.  But, ask yourself, will this be less money I can spend on other things for the wedding?Also, try some of the online vendors that sell designer gowns for much less - RK bridal, Pearl's Place, etc.  The other girls may know of more places.GL

    Yeah I've been searching but I can't find anywhere that sells Rivini dresses. Does anyone know of a site? Please tell! Another problem is that is might be too early on because it's a dress from the Spring 2010 collection.

    I agree with pp. Only you know how much you can spend on a dress. Check with RK and Pearl's for sure. I just googled Pearls and they have a Rivini dress on their website so I'm guessing they carry the line. http://www.pearlsplace.com/.HTH

    Yeah. I am just starting out planning so I better snap out of it sooner than later. Haven't experienced putting any deposits anywhere or going over budget. Just going to have to hope that it is out there somewhere for half the price or that someone sells theirs. lol

    Hi and welcome Brenda.I suppose it depends on what your original budget was.  For example, my dress cost about half of your Rivini, but I didn't want to spend more than $1k.  So I really broke my original budget on my dress.  But, I still think it was worth every penny and so do my DH and parents.You might be able to find a very comparable dress that is less expensive.  I am not sure how long you have been researching.  You might want to even ask here. To be even quicker, you can also call Pearls and I think BestBridalPrices.com.On this board, we all have different budgets, some knotties throw some serious fab weddings for less than the price of the Rivini, and some have some platinum soirees that I can't even fathom.  So price is totally relative to you and your situation:-)Oh, if you do go that route, try and avoid the "how much your dress cost" question from guests.  I wish I didn't tell b/c I have been totally judged by alot of them.

    For me that would have been a lot b/c I didn't have a budget for that. Look at your budget and you'll have to figure out if it's too much for you. GL!

    It depends on your overall budget. If you havent started much planning or booked much yet, I'd set a budget and see where the dress fits in. For some that dress would break the bank, for others it woul fit perfectly into their budget. See where it fits in for you :)

    My dress is a Rivini dress and it originally cost $6k which is way too much IMO.  I bought it at Chic Parisien and I got a great deal for it.  Go during one of the trunk shows they have really great sales.

    I did not know they mark down during trunk shows.. do you mind me asking more or less the percentage that they mark down at Chic Parisen..more or less?
